As I sit here reading this in my scrubs and grabbing a quick lunch that a local business donated, now would be the time I would usually just say “go fishing”. Probably not the best statement right now. Soldier I appreciate your concern, and yes I am considered front line. I have had 2 days off since feb 27 and most days are long ones. My two days off comprised of being home and taking meetings on my phone. When I get off work it takes me 30 minutes to sanitize enough to go home to my wife and not carry anything bad with me. And..I’m not going to flame you for caring. What I will say is that each person needs to understand social distancing, flattening the curve and personal responsibility. The HANs that have come our are for the most part recommended. They are there to act as guidance for the general public that does not understand what is expected of them. There are clearly those that will do whatever they want regardless. You are correct that those folks will jeopardize the health care of others secondary to overcrowded EDs and ICUs. I also appreciate your concern for your children and other first responders as I have them, and in difficult roles as well. As to this site, I know many of the regular posters and have known and fished with them for many years. Being new to the site you don’t have that insight but I can tell you that the majority, if not all of the folks here are respectful and educated. They have evaluated and discussed the risks and feel that a trip to the lake is just as safe as staying home. Yes, the lake is remote. The majority of users on this site file plans with friends and have backup buddies they can call to come get them if needed, not putting rescuers at risk. They plan for all eventualities. I can tell you I feel the way that they do about a visit and if I can eventually get four days off I will be out getting some solitude at the lake as well. Thanks for your thoughts, I’ll respect them however I am going to say it anyway. Y’all need to go fishing.
