Bullfrog North (Executive) Ramp

If the water is only a little over 2' deep 30' out, that seems to indicate that the ramp location is running out of gradient, just like the main ramp. They need to look at other locations like beyond the knoll at the main ramp. That area could easily get to 3,490' elevation, and does not need to be part of a continuous ramp all of the way up to full pool.

I've seen pictures of ramps at Lake Oroville with multiple ramps and parking lots for different lake levels.

In any case, a hard surfaced ramp down to 3,523' elevation is better than trying to launch off of mud.

We are currently hanging out in our Bullfrog slip. We are sitting in 27 feet of 60 degree water on Q dock - which is second set of docks down the walkway after the Dock Store. There is currently no work being done on the Exec ramp. There are two trucks with empty boat trailers attached in the upper parking lot, but we have not seen any private boats (except for those in the slips). There are maybe three other boats occupied in the slips down here. Eerily quiet but nice. We met three guys with kayaks this morning at the base of the ramp that were dropped off by Whitey in Escalante Canyon a week ago - and they were taking out this morning. They said they saw about 6 boats total during their entire trip on the Lake. Nice paddle with no boat wake !

Pics attached show the end of Bullfrog Bay, metal plates to the left side half way down the ramp, overview of the ramp from the top, and rocks along the edge of the concrete. The metal plates are stacked about halfway down, far off to the left side of the ramp (looking down the ramp). They are definitely not “staged” and ready at this point.

Someone placed a 36” (or so) wooden stake on the left side of the ramp at the end of the visible rock shelf and it is marked in black marker with 1” increments . See photo attached. I am assuming it was placed at the edge of the water a few days ago. For future reference purposes, there are 10 black marks visible above the surface of the water. Based on best guess looking at the grade and elevation, using the stick for reference, I estimate the water will need to rise 3-4’ to reach the edge of the concrete. I will try to get some intel from Exec Services while we are here. We are here until tomorrow and I will post updated pics if anything changes.

Great info - thanks for the update.

I think the cobble was put down to give something more solid than sand/mud for the boiler plate to rest on. But I suspect they won't plan to use the boiler plate until later this summer when the lake is on the way down. The ramp probably has some limited usability at 3525 for smaller boats, probably 4-5 more feet to launch a houseboat. My office sits along the Colorado River after the confluence of the Roaring Fork and the Colorado Rivers. It is certainly rising at this point. Seems to be quite a bit of snow in the Roaring Fork river basin and on the Flat Tops. Hopefully some good runoff in the next few weeks. My money is also on late May/early June for houseboat launches. Sooner for smaller fishing / skiing boats.

The kids and I are headed down the 19th and I sure hope there is a place to put in. I think I could launch off the dirt ramp pretty easily if they don't close it down! These reports are being watched by a lot of people at the moment and I know a lot of peoples plans are counting on a place to launch in the not too distant future. Keep the information flowing as it seems this is the only place we are getting much info at all.
Thanks for the reports!

We’ll make a video of launching next Wednesday on the dirt one.

We're gonna be launching late Tuesday afternoon/evening if we get down there early enough. Wednesday morning if not. I'm almost done building an 8 foot hitch extension we'll have with us. It'll just be in the bed of my truck, which I'd be happy to give you a description of if you guys want to use it! You'll need a 2-1/2" receiver for it to work, though.
We'll be shoving off in an Aramark 53 footer, and our white/silver Lund. Possibly one other boat also. Gonna try and put the houseboat in Forgotten, and fish from there to Red till Sunday. Farrah, and I both would love to finally meet you guys in person, so if you see us flag us down!

Sounds good! Trying to leave about 1 Tuesday but planning on not launching til Wednesday morning. Staying at the lodge that night. I think we’re heading mid lake.

Any rumors or contact info to see if ramp may be ready a few days early since Brown Brothers did such a fantastic job of finishing a little early?
Have been planning to launch 4/27 and hoping wishes are like fishes.
Did you launch today? How was it?
