Bullfrog North (Executive) Ramp

Well, I'm not going to try to remember my trigonometry to check your calculations, but I think you need to consider the depth at the end of the yet to be installed steel mats. Buffalo reported that they are 14 by 40, so the minimum extension would be 14 feet, probably a couple laid down for 28 feet. Also, isn’t the critical measurement the length from rear tow vehicle wheels to rear trailer axle, not boat length? As far as measuring pole, end of concrete is what, about a vertical foot, maybe 2, from current water level of about 3522.6, so elevation is about the 3525 stated in announcements (I think). Jot that down in your iPhone notes. I keep expecting Dave to add the new ramps to his LP Water Database.

You are correct.....but launching ain't the issue.......

we have to really think when our return is gonna be, what will elevation be then??....and plan accordingly....never had to do this in 47 years....but, It's a new and different lake situation

That return planning is a kicker. We were on the SJ last July, having launched our speedboat at Halls when they announced Halls was closing earlier than expected. My husband did the ugly drive from Halls to Bullfrog with an empty trailer. That will pales to what a drive from Bullfrog to Page would be if you couldn't retrieve at Bullfrog

Buffalo -THANK YOU!! for all the great updates

Ok, time for a little math, and my calculations may be off, but tell me if I’m wrong,
So if the grade of the ramp is about 10% then every foot vertical of water would move 10 feet up the ramp
So if you have a 30 foot cruiser you would need at least a 3 foot rise in water, and for a 70 foot houseboat
You would need a 7 foot rise in water.
It would be nice to have maybe a depth pole at the end of the concrete to show the end of the concrete and the depth
Marked on that pole, or maybe some markings painted along the side of the concrete to give information as well.
OK math wizards, let me know what you think
I really like the idea of poles marked with depth or spray painted markings on the concrete!

I remember you guys being out when they closed Halls....as you mentioned Page is a different story.

No math required, steel will be down and ramp open May 1 before any water touches the concrete…sending positive vibes baby!!
Any rumors or contact info to see if ramp may be ready a few days early since Brown Brothers did such a fantastic job of finishing a little early?
Have been planning to launch 4/27 and hoping wishes are like fishes.

tried a few times this week to call NPS office in page at posted phone number, get ring no answer, end up at voice mail box that is not accepting messages! class act! should be easy to find answer to plates and open date but not with goberment!

Called today, law enforcement guy. Very noncommittal, he knows nothing about plates. Well I guess answered the phone more than I can say about main page number. He did say there was talk of closing launching at beach location somebody had problems with 32 foot Bayliner, don't be that guy! So don't be surprised if you show up and beach is locked down.

Lake level is over one vertical foot below end of cement, and not increasing much anytime soon. There are 8 days left to May 1. Rip rap gravel pics provided by Buffalo look like the lake bottom drops off quite quickly after the cement, with only about 20 linear feet of very soft rocks put down thus far. Glad the cofferdam was dissolved by wave action in recent high winds. Will be interesting to see the first 30 foot + boat get launched before the water starts covering the ramp.

Well that would be bad. Guess Ill find out the hard way in the am

Please let us know if you get on. I’ll be launching 4/29

It's wet.

Just kidding, it doesn't look like they ran the gravel very far past the current end of the ramp. Beyond it will be the sandy mud shown in the foreground of the middle image above. However, I'm convinced that the next and final step is to move the steel mats(shown above) into place at the bottom of the ramp. This should give all of us(I have a 30' cruiser) access to the lake come May 1st. I'm not planning a trip that first weekend, but would like to be there around the 14th or 21st. Keep the info coming, I'm starting to get excited.
Thanks John for the update, I have to back my long (35') trailer (rear to hitch) to get the boat onto the trailer, so its way under water in the lake and I don't want it to fall off into something underwater.

The following is from NPS. Wayne just posted it under announcements.
.
Bullfrog North Ramp Construction: The Bullfrog North Ramp has been permanently extended as far as possible, to reach a lake elevation of 3525 feet. The last concrete pour is curing. Use of the ramp will be dependent on lake levels reaching 3525 feet or higher.  Stay tuned for more information.

The overall announcement shows the lake still dropping as of 04/20.

Note that NPS, in all of their written communications at least, have never mentioned pipe mats or steel plates at this location, but they do mention it at Stateline. If accurate, this ramp may not be available until late May at the earliest.
