Bullfrog North (Executive) Ramp

If I'm not mistaken no concrete at Stateline Auxiliary Ramp is submerged and launch/retrieve is on the steel plates at the end of the concrete. I'm guessing that's the plan for Bullfrog. So it could be usable as soon as concrete is cured, coffer dam removed and plates laid down.
????
Someone has reported on here that not far from the end of the concrete at the expanded exec ramp is a pretty significant drop off. I would think that if that’s correct it would complicate using metal plates for launching. I haven’t been there to see it with my own eyes though.

If they couple a runoff with a big release of water from Flaming Gorge, could see a pretty rapid rise in the lake level in a short period. Have to remember too that the footprint of Lake Powell has shrunk a ton - doesn’t take as much water to get a foot rise out of a smaller lake as compared to one with 2,000 miles of shoreline.

I have no official word on steel plates.

But I have seen the pile of boiler plate at the top of the exec ramp. Never mind how much those plates cost to buy, shipping 14’ x 40’ plates to Bullfrog must have cost a small fortune!! Do you really think they are not even considering using them?

Also last Wednesday they delivered an industrial heavy duty long reach fork lift. Also no word as to plans for its use.

Again, I have no official or unofficial word whatsoever on NPS’s plans.

I think they’ve had those plats for a few years. They previously used them to extend the main ramp, so I don’t think ROI is going to be adriver for wether they use them this year

Just moving them from the main ramp to the executive ramp would have been costly. Not something you would do casually. I’m down to the houseboat slips 3 or 4 times a year. I don’t remember those plates being there last season. Of course I’m getting old and I maybe having a “senior moment”! 😂
ps what is “ROI”?

The following is from NPS. Wayne just posted it under announcements.
.
Bullfrog North Ramp Construction: The Bullfrog North Ramp has been permanently extended as far as possible, to reach a lake elevation of 3525 feet. The last concrete pour is curing. Use of the ramp will be dependent on lake levels reaching 3525 feet or higher.  Stay tuned for more information.

The overall announcement shows the lake still dropping as of 04/20.

Note that NPS, in all of their written communications at least, have never mentioned pipe mats or steel plates at this location, but they do mention it at Stateline. If accurate, this ramp may not be available until late May at the earliest.
This sure sounds like no boiler plate extension is going to happen. I was at the ramp today and there is maybe 8-10 feet of rocks at the end of the newly extended ramp. These rocks were thrown on top of soft mud and sand. Those rocks are going to sink when some weight gets on them. After the rocks looks like soft mud/sand. The water line is about 8 feet from the bottom of the cement as of today. Maybe another 4-5 feet of rocks in the water. Pretty sure boiler plate extensions are not going in there.

You were at the ramp and didn't take pictures? It's like catching the state record and releasing it without photos at this point with the ramp! People are anxious here LOL

LOL! Sorry! It was late. And there have literally been 100 pictures posted of the bottom of the extended ramp over the last 2 weeks on different threads. It's getting depressing because the water slowly keeps getting farther from the bottom of the ramp. But for your morning pleasure here you go.

It's all good...I figured after posting, that the first person to post a picture of boiler plates in the water will be charged for inciting a boat ramp riot down there LOL......However, that is what everyone is waiting for...it's a long haul (545 miles for me), which I did in March (just for a recon mission), just to be turned around now would be very aggravating!

I'll be able to see first hand tomorrow (2/3) if anything is going on anywhere down the ramp at Bullfrog. Haven't seen any supplies go by so I'm not holding my breath. Hoping I'll be surprised and can report some good news.
Please share all the info you can as soon as possible thanks …..

There will be boiler plates. The plates have been moved lower down the hill near ramp. Not sure when exactly they are doing it. Many photos of the boiler plates have been posted
Photos please. 😎 Has the long reach fork lift been moved closer to the ramp too?

I don’t about the boiler plate but that ramp is fully cured. Last Wednesday they were driving heavy equipment up and down it. 😎

I don’t think NPS will be leaving any equipment at the ramp. Except the bulldozer they have there all the time. They will bring equipment down for what is needed that day and take it back to their yard. I don’t have photos but the boiler plate is now halfway down the ramp on the left next to that bulldozer. Guessing they are preparing for installing it. I don’t think they will install it until May1
