Bullfrog North (Executive) Ramp

So which is it gentlemen? 1 or 2 foot rise to get the concrete wet, or cement down to water level? Can't have it both ways.

And which expert thinks the ramp will be open on May 1st? That's 13 days from now. The concrete may be cured by then, but that's all.

At most, the lake will have come up 8-12 inches by May 1st. It's still dropping right now, and except for 2 warm days Monday and Tuesday, temps will be average to below average with some precip and a lot of wind for the next 10 days. Not conditions conducive for a big pick-up in the runoff.

You can't launch most boats until you have at least 2-3 feet of water to cover the drop-off at the end of the concrete, much less keeping your motor from eating the dirt from the cofferdam.

Just above the executive ramp. They are doing final grading today where the gravel meets the top of ramp.

I drove by the spot where the cruiser was launched. Up close not nearly as sketchy as it looks in the photos. Boat went into a slip. The owner launched 3 smaller boats in same spot.

While we were there someone else retrieved a bass boat.

Looked at the new executive ramp. Gonna need almost 1’ to 2’ of rise just to get the new cement wet

This is where they are launching and retrieving boats down beyond the main ramp.

That’s a motor home up in the left hand corner.

Well I stood at the end of the cement today and you can walk below the end of the cement without getting your feet wet. About 3’ horizontal of dirt before there’s water. Maybe closer to 1’ rise than 2’. Once you get to water it’s quick sand. I was told yesterday that don’t think they will be able to use steel plates. There IS a pile steel plates sitting at the top of the ramp in the dirt. So ???
If the soil below the concrete won't support the plates then I would say we are SOL til well into May.
Don't want to turn this thread into a weather discussion, but just saw on Weather Channel about late week dip in the jet stream, keeping water shed cool (delaying runoff) and bringing another round of precipitation and snow.

They have plates sitting on what is now dry land that they used this past winter about 400’ away.
I hate to be the one to deliver bad news - but I am pretty sure those “plates” currently stacked at the top of the ramp are actually the old metal roof pieces that were torn off some old docks they de-commissioned late last Fall. Notice they look like corrugated metal roofing. We were down there when they were taking the old docks apart in the bay to the north of the exec services ramp, and if I remember correctly that’s where the roof pieces ended up. We were thinking the same thing (optimistically) about the plates until we looked at them up close.

Not saying the above pic is roof material or ramp plate but for comparison purposes, here’s a close-up of the boiler plate in use at Wahweap. The 2 plates at the top of the photo appear to show different rib spacing. The one behind the yellow post descending into the water seems to match the steel stacked at Bullfrog.

Are you saying , There is still a chance . I cant understand why they would not use the boiler plates , when the concrete cures . Just unreal.
Of course they will try to use the boiler plates (I know nothin', but they don't look like awning material). Can BB Construction dump rip rap down there to support the plates? Of course they can. With the water level stable, I'm betting the yellow machines do their thing this week and it's open by May 1. BTW, did I mention I know nothin'?
Buffalo, I guess you are nearby. Hope you can recon the area and come back Lima Charlie!

Unlike Stateline which was a ramp with a solid base and proper grade, I doubt the same is true for bullfrog and therefore might not be suitable for plates below the ramp. I hope I'm wrong but something that needs to be considered.

The wind is really blowing straight at the exec ramp. Probably raising the water level an inch or two temporarily. From the end of cement to the edge of the water 9’. The cobble was installed this afternoon. They are still working.5DDA338D-7B69-43FD-825D-7D59175BD484.jpeg
Photo of the of the steel plates at the top of the exec ramp. Each panel is approximately 14’ by 40’.EF85277E-EDD0-47D4-8367-7679438861D9.jpeg
That’s a size 11 foot for scale. 🤣

Well that sure as heck is not roofing material as one member speculated on. I did not stay at a holiday inn last night but that metal is going at bottom of ramp to make it usable by may 1, I expect/ speculate allot more cobble is going in before mat is layed down. Just mho.
