Page tourists, COVID-19

There was a time when this site had a listing for political and ranting opinions. Many of the people that participated in that section left WW’s and since moved on to other sites. Those that left, not to return are missed and still welcome back. This site is about Lake Powell and the people that love it. Let’s try to stay on subject. Sq. As I hijack this thread, sorry.

Are the marinas operating operating normally?
I am starting to see some boat traffic now so when the next one comes in, I'll ask and post it unless someone beats me to it. ;)
Of course this would be upper lake. I'm sure someone will chime in for the lower lake.

I will admit that I have seen a real uptick of civil discussions on WW over the past year or 2. It's good to see opinions can be shared without the "pissing match" scenario happening. I have seen some posts I was opinionated about, but just kept scrolling. It's just better to keep everything friendly in my opinion. And by doing so, it didn't fill my brain for the rest of the day. ;)

Anyone remember when I posted about the disposal of houseboats due to age/rust and it ended up being a heated debate because people believed no one would just walk away from a houseboat? Now, I've had 6, Offshore has dozens and Aramark has more than they've counted to date.

Now, everyone get down here to the lake, do some awesome social distancing and catch some fish, not virus! Don't argue with that!!! :D

Respecting the concern and need for dialogue about the present pandemic.... Are there others that feel that this forum would be better left to discuss only Lake Powell topics? I understand that Covid-19 has an impact on all things Lake Powell, but there are certainly better forums for these discussions than this one.

One thing I have always loved about this forum, is that the majority of the time it unites us based on our shared love for Lake Powell.

The following is likely a futile request, but moderators would you consider making the choice to eliminate these threads? Many forums are managed in such a way.

Respect to each and everyone of you.
I certainly agree with you on this subject

I started this thread simply asking about commercial activity in Page. The evolving debate on policies and politics of the outbreak isn't directly on point for LP, but the thread does contain interesting/useful info on LP operations. This thread could be shut down and Bart could pin updates on LP operations impacted by the virus. I should look, maybe that's already there.

This thread has been very useful to me. It has, as most threads do, wiggled and weaved away from the primary subject on occasion, but still has remained an informative thread on what's going on at GCNRA/Lake Powell including a new post today that was very helpful to me.

Unless people are being disrespectful or belligerent, I do not agree with moderators terminating a thread such as this one. And if a member was posting inappropriately, admonish the specific member, not everyone who is learning from the light debate and banter. Nobody is forcing anyone to read and agree with each thread and post posted.

I thought the first day of Spring was yesterday, but apparently, winter isn't over as there are still some "snowflakes" around 🤣 (it's a joke people! Don't hate on me!):ROFLMAO: -Doug

I have really enjoyed the discussion about what is happening with the virus and what effects it is having on Lake Powell and our lives in general. This is a great place to discuss things with others who enjoy the lake and fishing. We have a great diverse group here and a lot of great points get brought up from others that I had not thought of. I know a lot of us will be extremely affected by this whole thing and being able to discuss here is perfect. I don't think it is very hard in any way to scroll past this post and move to the next one if it not something you would like to discuss. I haven't seen anything offensive or inappropriate that should be removed.

Thanks for the information on the tour boats stopping :) The should make fishing and sitting in areas much better. It is hard to see that so many are out of work now and a lot will be looking for something very soon. My job will most likely shut down completely and I will have to find something else to do. Good luck to all out there who will suffer from this and the financial burden it will place on so many of us. Hopefully we can all still find a way to get back up to the lake and spend some away time.

I was at APM and in Page this weekend. APM is open but I was told 80% of employees are off work because of the corona virus concerns. I was also told that the Navajo nation just yesterday told all members to stay at home starting tomorrow. Another person I spoke with said they would not be surprised if the lake was closed soon. To be clear, this is a couple of persons opinion only.

I'd guess there were 15-20 families/friends using their houseboats for quarantine. That's pretty busy for March.

Someone asked for Pilot services tomorrow and the marina person told them they did not know if anyone would be there to provide such service. I asked if the pumpout and fuel was going to remain open (if it is even open now) and that was also not known by anyone I could find at the marina.

As of today, you can go to and use your boat in the marina, but I would not expect many if any marina services to be available.

Re the city of Page, we used curbside order and pickup of Subway sandwiches. And I bought some parts from Ted's. But the city is earily quiet. All Antelope Canyon tour companies operations are closed. Page's economy must be taking a huge hit. I hope that this doesn't last long.
