I ordered mine when they were first introduced, it took a couple months to arrive. It preforms as advertised. I've loaded many brands of bullets and powders and it's always punching out 1in or smaller groups.

A few weeks ago, my 16-year-old and I were talking about some of our favorite things to do together. #1 Lake Powell, #1A Hunting. I understand many are not into hunting. It's not for them. But for our family both present and past it is a way of life, just as much as boating/hiking/exploring Lake Powell. I don't rock climb, jump out of airplanes, or scuba dive. I've tried all of them once and it wasn't for me. But I have no problem with those that do those activities. Whatever gets you outdoors and closer to family, do it! Merry Christmas to all of my Powell friends.

Hey Todd, I actually haven't pulled the trigger this year. I had two tags and both went unfilled. I guess that's why they call it hunting and not shooting. I hope to start 2025 off right with a coues deer tag this January in Mexico. But, I did get to help/guide a few friends and hunters out this year on their elk hunts. Most notably Joe and his buddy Adam from Australia. Both are really nice guys and Joe is just like he is on his podcasts. Very opinionated and a great interviewer. But in all honesty, my favorite hunt of the year was when my buddy Brad mentored my son Ethan on his first bull elk hunt. Those are memories I'll take to the grave.

Ohhhhh I believe it’s called the Vortex Viper PST 4-16. That’s what I get off the top of my head. I think now they’re on about the 3rd generation of it. I actually don’t like the turrets on the scope. They turn too easily and I’m not really a long range shooter. I just use holdover and have never used the turrets anyway. It’s just one more thing that can go wrong lol.

might be the scope not the rifle. On the hunting forum im frequent ive read some pretty interesting threads about scope reliability. With the warranty it might be worth sending in just to see.

Personally, I am not into hunting, even after going out a few times. However, I love watching your show, even during the hunts, because you really show how it brings people together doing something they love. Keep up the good work!

Good point, I was thinking about this also. Have you recently started using different ammo as in lead free bullets. I tried the Barnes copper bullets after they first came out and they gave me a fit. I know they say they need a clean bore but I'm not going to scrub the barrel after every shot, I abandoned them before I got my Tikka. It is just a thought.

I have used copper bullets exclusively in my Winchester 30-06 for the past 10+ years. Killed 10 elk, they perform well! Never had any issues with accuracy or fouling. I HAVE had issues with lead composite bullets fragmenting and finding bits of bullet pieces while gutting/packaging meat. The copper bullets always have a perfect mushroom expansion, 0 fragments!

Glad to hear they're working, it's was 25 to 30yrs ago when I loaded the Barnes bullets shortly after they were introduced. I couldn't get reliable groups out of them, compared to the Speer, Nosler, Sierra and Remington bullets that I was loading at the time.
I so jealous 10 elk in the last the last ten or so years. I haven't been drawn in AZ for 7yrs now.
That looks like perfect expansion and weight retention. I totally agree about lead fragmenting, I recovered a nosler 165gr ballistic tip that only weighted 70gr. from a deer. However I've had better luck with the 180gr nosler partitions recovering a couple with nearly 100% retention.
Do you know what brand of bullets are used in the federal premium rounds. I haven't fired factory ammo in over 30yrs except for 22cal rimfire.

I believe they are a federal bullet. I have found 3 perfectly mushroomed bullets that looked like they were from an advertisement in the elk I have killed. Most have been shots 200 yards and less, a few out to 280, and 240. I never hunted elk before moving to Wyoming, but we are lucky to have ridiculously long seasons! I am not a trophy hunter, I take what comes to me, and really enjoy the fantastic meat!

OHV Side by Side advice... I'm in the market for a small side by side that fits 2 adults comfortably and has a windshield but will fit in the bed of a full size standard bed truck . I know hunters use them so looking for advice on brands to avoid and models to look at.

Thanks. I looked at one of those. I'll have to go a little older since I don't want to spend 10k on something we don't know if we even will like ( wife may not like riding in it and I may decide I want a trophy truck 
) . I hear Polaris holds up well. They are in my lens though.
We plan to rent one the next time we are in Kanab and see if she likes it. Just want something to get away from it and experience some more remote areas for day trips.
