It’s the first time any of us have done duck. We’ve just seared the breasts with salt and pepper on cast iron so far. It’s been fantastic, it’s my favorite game just behind elk now.
That’s awesome. If you like mergansers, I’m eager to hear what you think a non diving duck tastes like.

Mergansers are absolutely beautiful. But I think even Steve Rinella refuses to eat them. 🤮

Really!? Honestly after now having golden eye, mallard and merganser they are all about the same, and delicious! Like a mild, tender steak…

I’ve watched Rinella eat coyote so…. Ha.

I gave up on shooting divers years ago because I couldn’t eat them. I only shoot puddle ducks.

But everyone’s tastes are different. Some hunting show I was watching recently they were cooking prairie dogs. I’d go back to divers long before I’d try something like that.

Now you need a duck dog.

Perfect recipe for ducks: Nail the duck to a board. Season with spices. Cook in an oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Take it out of the oven, remove the duck from the board and throw it away. Then eat the board.
I’ve heard of a similar recipe before, but I really don’t think that applies to ducks. At least not puddle ducks.

If you can’t enjoy eating a teal I’d say you may need to try a different recipe. Or cook it less.

If you were talking geese (especially snows) I’d probably agree. But MOOSE (RIP) loved for me to go goose hunting…..
