Closing access ????

A lot of places in AZ (state parks, national forests, etc) are closing most campgrounds and activities. Boat ramps, etc are still open. I guess the intent is to limit people grouping up while still allowing some basic access. I hope that stays the same for Powell. Some overreaction by government agencies going on in my opinion. Hope this blows over soon, keep us posted!

Wayne ,
When I spoke to the Rangers yesterday at Bull Frog office They informed me that Stanton creek is CLOSED no question. The only place you are allowed to camp on the Bull Frog side is BLM property. She mentioned Star Springs and Henry Mountains.
They were going to close any Entrance to the Lake today!
They are patrolling the area letting visitors know that if they don't get out they wont be able to leave until Gates are reopened. They are not in office answering phone, they are patrolling>>> We are going to drive down to see if gate is actually Closed. will update ASAP.
I was heading down there today!! Dang I might have to go to south end then....Wayne im guessing we are good still down there?

I just got off the phone with Mary Plumb and she said the Bullfrog Pump-out station on the dock was open and she was going to check to make sure whether the dock gas pumps were working. She didn't know if the land based gas station was open or not.
She also said thanks for pointing out about those issues not being addressed on the website and she was going to see if she could get what is OPEN at Bullfrog posted.
Does anyone know if that land gas station at the top of the main launching ramp is privately owned or owned by Aramark?
Same with the boat storage locations on the road that goes by the old store on Bullfrog, I think that is hwy 276 on the North.
Thanks,
Buffalo4
Gas at the corner store in Bullfrog is still available. It is a pay at the pump service station.

Is there cell service at Bullfrog? If so, download an app call "onx hunt". It shows your live location and the ownership of the surrounding property, such as private, state, blm, national forest, etc. For the private land, it shows the name of the owner from the tax rolls.

Just talked to a friend that was in Bullfrog (Lives and works there during summers) and he said they removed everybody from Stanton and the campgrounds today and blocked them off. They allowed one camper to stay in the parking lot tonight, but this is only for tonight. Said ramp and entrance is still open, but did not know for how long. Restrooms are closed, so better have a porta-potty with you if you go down.
Said one of the people that worked at the boat inspection station who had been traveling to SLC, has now tested positive. Don't know if the boat inspection station will be open in the future or not, or what they are going to do.
Said that 15 of the workers there at Bullfrog had recently traveled to a meeting and now one of the people that was at the meeting had tested positive. Not anyone from the Bullfrog workers, but now 15 of their workers are in quarantine for two weeks, and they don't even have any tests available in Bullfrog to check them. Hard to run the place with their people in quarantine.
Sounds bad. He said things are changing daily, so who knows what will be new tomorrow.
Man that sucks, I was hoping to bring my family down there and camp in the campground in another week or so.

This is pretty silly. As if the park rangers would lock people in! The GCRA website makes no mention (yet) of closing access to the lake.

This is not directed to anyone on this site but I gotta wonder how many rumors are floating around. Rumors just stir the pot and when the pot is full of you know what, it gets stinky real quick. You almost have to be there to know the truth. Thanks Carolyn for your report.

Well I just left Hall's and can't imagine Bullfrog to be much different but ramp open, fish station operating, bathrooms operating (even had toilet paper!), gas pumps at marina and camp store operating. Store was closed but marina store open and camp grounds closed.

They will close all of the campgrounds but how about the boat ramps? We have a trip on May 8th and will need to launch the bass boat. I doubt we will have any other options if the ramps are closed.

You can't predict what will happen tomorrow so forget trying to figure out May 8th. We also have a trip mid-May so we wait.until it gets closer to figure out what we're doing. It's like trying to know if you can use the cut when it's not open yet. Hope for the best but be prepared to go around the long way. Frustrating, yes but the end of the world, not so much. At least not today. Keep the faith Ringer.

When you make your trip to Lake Powell in May, you will know for sure the status of launch ramps. My guess is that much more information will be released during the first week of April or sooner. This will give you time to react accordingly. Be patient. (Just kidding - I am the last one to give advice about patience since I have none.)

Strange that a person can't get accurate and up to date info about what is actually OPEN at Bullfrog, at least for that day.
So far it sounds like the ramp and the self-serve gas pumps at the gas station and its bathrooms are open.
Couldn't at least ONE of the rangers at Bullfrog update the data at what is actually OPEN at Bullfrog?

Any idea on the boat storage places near the old store? Can anyone find out since they don't seem to be answering their phone.

Hoping for the best.
Thanks,

Sorry but the situation is fluid, changing by the hour. A firm decision will come soon. I am hoping that Lake Powell will not be closed to boating and that launch ramps will be open. That is all I can hope for since I live here and can launch by driving out to the lake. Can you come to Wahweap? You can launch here and get gas in Page AZ.

Oh man, with all this wind, we are planning to go out Monday, just launching and social distancing. Do let us know what you hear about potential closures.

They can "close" the lake how ever they want. I will be on it with my boat regardless. 40,000 people died last year driving cars... with 4 million needing medical attention... ill take my chances.

I dont live in the greatest country in the world to have my rights taken from me over night.

I can cancel everything but the house I rented from a link on this site. Paid up front in full and no refunds so just keeping our fingers crossed. Washington just closed all fishing with a $1200 fine and Oregon just closed all guiding in the state. Crazy to understand those so never know.

It is concerning that they are shutting healthy places for people to be.
Makes no sense to take away Lakes and fishing!!!
Causing un necessary mental anguish!! Fishing is HEALTHY !!
