BULLFROG RAMP CONDITIONS

Relax and think positive. Winter weather is difficult to predict more than 2-3 days out. Two years ago at this time the snowpack was looking grim and we ended up with epic runoff. Other years start out great and fizzle. Just head down to Page. Halls is crowded, no services and full of Zombies and Crocs! 🐊🧟‍♂️

I can't remember the year OR the elevation, except it was prior to '96, but we had a shock when we got there, and after some years before ('84), the new land store was below the elev. of the lake. if the executive ramp was there, it was off limits for public launching. We were told to launch at our own risk, in the gravel between the big rock and the end of the ramp. It was far enough past the rock that we turned a 50' truck and boat around in the gravel and backed in toward a line of extension of the ramp , which had to have been at least 50 yds. back to concrete.. Shallow , but solid and no problem...

They must have reconfigured things around Bullfrog quite a bit in the past 20 years, because the lowest lake elevation between 1984 and 1996 was in Feb 1993 at 3612. Times have changed...

@JFR, ORRRRR, maybe I have the wrong lake ....or the wrong decade.. I'm sure the ramp got extended, but the rock would be hard to move... and I never did weed or mushrooms. Then !!!

I just checked elev. up until 2000, and all higher than my recollection...so NOW I have no idea when it was..but I remember doing it.

Yes, the mind is a terrible thing to waste, or sometimes even to have in the first place... :) The winter of 2003-04 was the first time the lake dropped below 3600 since the winter of 1972-73...

The one big draw back with Halls is unknowns like to cruse the parking lots and liberate your hard earned stuff. My sure you lock everything
or it might just walk away.

The trend is toward minimal spring run off. Snow pack build is low and not projected to improve. Soil moisture is exceptionally low after exceptional 2020 drought. In 2020 it just quit raining in south central Utah. Soil moisture must be replaced before significant run off can occur. Most of the snow pack may be taken up replenishing soil moisture.

I am headed to BF tomorrow, is the ramp already too low ? This thread just worried me I thought the ramp was still 5' above useable level ?

I’m going down tomorrow as well. I think it will be open, but be careful when boating over to the courtesy dock. I usually boat straight out from the ramp until I’m past the cofferdam, then work my way over to the dock.
