Bullfrog North (Executive) Ramp

I would think pulling that out would be a bit more of a challenge than dropping it in!!!
I agree. Getting in launched is different than pulling it out of the lake. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt and would like to believe their plan is to store it on the water at bullfrog.

That looks like the approximate spot where I waded in to try to wash the nasty grey mud off my legs from breaking through in the trench by the spur ramp. I was thinking that launching might be possible, but retrieval with the weight of the boat on the trailer would not be doable.

If you are thinking of trying this, think about the cost of damage to the trailer and vehicle, getting towed out, versus the cost of driving down to Wahweap, plus the gas to run your boat back up to Bullfrog. And if you want to try repeating this, I would suggest hooking up the towstrap before you start backing in.

I hope you and him are right, that would be awesome but I have no confidence we will see a 10 foot rise from when it bottoms out somwhere around 3520.
It's likely that the lake is at its seasonal low today at 3522. If you read through the thoughtful comments in this discussion you may gain confidence in about 15 to 20 foot rise over the 3522 minimum.

If they are staying for two weeks or longer they should be able to pull it out with no problem on the new ramp.
I drove by the spot where the cruiser was launched. Up close not nearly as sketchy as it looks in the photos. Boat went into a slip. The owner launched 3 smaller boats in same spot.

While we were there someone else retrieved a bass boat.

Looked at the new executive ramp. Gonna need almost 1’ to 2’ of rise just to get the new cement wet

So which is it gentlemen? 1 or 2 foot rise to get the concrete wet, or cement down to water level? Can't have it both ways.

And which expert thinks the ramp will be open on May 1st? That's 13 days from now. The concrete may be cured by then, but that's all.

At most, the lake will have come up 8-12 inches by May 1st. It's still dropping right now, and except for 2 warm days Monday and Tuesday, temps will be average to below average with some precip and a lot of wind for the next 10 days. Not conditions conducive for a big pick-up in the runoff.

You can't launch most boats until you have at least 2-3 feet of water to cover the drop-off at the end of the concrete, much less keeping your motor from eating the dirt from the cofferdam.

If I'm not mistaken no concrete at Stateline Auxiliary Ramp is submerged and launch/retrieve is on the steel plates at the end of the concrete. I'm guessing that's the plan for Bullfrog. So it could be usable as soon as concrete is cured, coffer dam removed and plates laid down.

Well I stood at the end of the cement today and you can walk below the end of the cement without getting your feet wet. About 3’ horizontal of dirt before there’s water. Maybe closer to 1’ rise than 2’. Once you get to water it’s quick sand. I was told yesterday that don’t think they will be able to use steel plates. There IS a pile steel plates sitting at the top of the ramp in the dirt. So ???

Not really a cofferdam. Just loose dirt and rubble. Tried walking it and it was too soft.

Yes Trix, you're right about the plates. Let's hope for the best. Heaven knows Bullfrog needs to come back to life. A month ago I cancelled a 3-family, 3 boat, 17 person trip over the week before Memorial Day. I didn't trust either the ramp or the water levels. We have other plans, but I'll be jealous about those who get out on the lake, which is the most beautiful place on earth.
