I think my families first trip was back in 78 or 79. Lots of stories, some funnier than others.
We used to camp in Slick Rock, down below the ruins. I remember one time we were there in the early 80's, and a group was dropped off by a pretty big cruiser to go look at the ruins. They were going to swim back to the boat, but one guy didn't want to get his watch wet, so he decided to throw it to the boat.
Well, you guessed it, his aim was bad, and in the drink it went. So, they spent the next 20 + minutes diving down trying to find it. Surprise, surprise, they did. But that isn't the funny part. That was the fact that the guy that found it, puts it on his wrist, and proceeds to swim to the boat one handed - with the arm with the watch on it high out of the water. Of course you wouldn't want to get it wet after it has spent that much time in the lake......
