I would like to start a thread of some strange and weird things that have been seen by wordlings at Powell. I will start with my experience driving uplake at about mm 16 when I saw a boat (about 20') in the middle of the main channel with no one visible in it. I putted over to it and sure enough no one was in it and it was idling in neutral. Creepy feeling came over me but just called it in to NPS and went on my way. Never did find out who it belonged to or why it was there. The nice story would be that someone was towing it while it was idling and it came loose. The bad story is is in your imagination. Obviously never forgot it. That was 15 years ago.

Sep 17, 2015 in the Left Fork Kane Wash a little Piper Cub flew over around 8 AM. I noticed the balloon-like tundra tires because they look kind of cartoonish.

They did help some when he landed on the sandy beach.

His buddy & him got out for a minute then left the way they came.

I guess that's a unique way to scout for a beach.;)

UFO in August 2002 camped in cove across from Rainbow Bridge. Sorry it was night, no pictures and we were too shocked to take pics... four of us saw it.

You don't seem like the ufo type. What did you see. My wife and I saw a strange light above the lake when we lived in Page but never found out what it was.

Do you know how the helicopter ended up on its side? Wind, landing or maybe a little of both? That had to be an expensive boo boo.

I think it is the same guy. I believe he is the owner of the Dam Bar and Grill, and is also a developer in town.

About 6 years ago my son and I were at the lake as usual we went to find a spot in Bullfrog bay we went maybe 200 yards down from the 400 field pulled into a cove found a spot for the HB . Derectly across from us was another HB . The difference was they weren't wearing any clothes, the guy got mad that I parked in the same cove. The fact that it was plenty big enough for 2 boats I explained to him if wanted privacy he needed to go further then a mile from the main boat ramp .

OK, I'll chime in. Back in "86" or thereabouts, we were in GHB fishin' and decided to take a walk up the road that came down to the lake. About 1/4 mile from the water we came across a photo shoot where the clothes were optional. Very professional set up with lighting in the middle of the day to eliminate shadows. You get the idea. They were not happy to see 5 people observing their photo op.
To finish the story, we continued up the road to an abandoned uranium mine with an old Airstream trailer parked there. the whole area South & East of the mine was littered with petrified wood. some pieces couldn't be moved with a loader they were so large. Does anyone recall where that mine was?? I have looked on GOOGLE Earth and haven't been able to find it. Sq

Do not know where that mine is but do know that most dark (especially black) petrefied wood is radioactive which is not widely known. Some specimens are highly radioactive. (Sleeping with the nuclear genie). Squirrel, I know from previous posts that you like your nuts so watch out for yours while collecting.
