I've seen very few surf boats, mostly this year it's all new miniature yachts with a tower on top........

I absolutely hate the surf boats. I used to think that they were just totally self absorbed. Now I don’t think actually understand the havoc that they wreak. I just walk in from the Flaming Gorge and yesterday I had one buzz me so close that it dumped water in to my thunder jet Luxor and and sent my little girl flying. My boat has 36 inch sides. My little 4 year old girl saved that dude an *** whipping. I am really surprised that no one has been shot yet. I am willing to bet as they become more common that we are going to have some boater rage.
If I ever see that, I am hitting spot lock and enjoying the show.

Ah, what to do? My son built a neumatic spud gun a few weeks ago...
I completely agree with this. Having upgraded from a stern drive to an inboard surf boat this year has made me realize that it is hard to anticipate how far that wave can carry sometimes. It is more about the courtesy other boaters show one another and anticipating where people need to go and the impact your will have on them. Most boaters seem to be good, but there are still enough that are not that it gets aggravating. A boat license course would go a long way toward helping the situation.I am thrilled to see people out enjoying the lake, getting away from their computers, and getting some fresh air with their families. I don't feel the need to get divisive based on what kind of boat they have.
Education about divers and dive flags would be so helpful. Might be worth its own thread.Ihave found that jet skiers are just as bad if not worse. Jets put off a tremendous wake even at lower speeds if you are parked in a narrow end of a canyon. Boaters will generally reduce speed when they see another boat anchored or beached. Not so jets.
I find the worst violations when you have a dive flag out for scuba or snorkeling. Apparently, most boaters/skiers have no idea as to what that red flag w/ white stripe means or the regulations that are attached to them. Some close calls.
You need to come out with me one day an experience the fun of the surf boats. There is a wonderful word called sharing. If your fun prevents others from having fun and possibly puts them in dangerous situations, that is not sharing a resource. That is a group of individuals being inconsiderate.I am thrilled to see people out enjoying the lake, getting away from their computers, and getting some fresh air with their families.
