Stateline Ramp this morning

I had forgotten that something similar happened to me when I was a kid. My grandpa would do the thing where he would run the engine to push the boat on the trailer and have somebody drive the truck. We started to pull up the ramp (I was in the boat), and the boat fell off the trailer. But we weren't that far up the ramp. I think the boat mostly landed in water. I can't remember for sure how the problem got solved. But I think they just got some people to push the boat down the ramp a couple feet until it started floating again.

Did what these folks appear to have done. Ditto, in my youth, (circa 1993) on a Roller trailer on a ramp, I was showing someone how to launch a boat. I was explaining how you never undo the tension on the winch and the safety chain at the same time and then I disconnected the chain and flipped the lever to demonstarate how you’d do that. Then I left it that way, hopped in my truck and began backing down the ramp. My boat came mostly off the trailer and onto the ramp bow high, I thought I’d killed my driver! But no harm came to him luckily. We winched it back onto the trailer with the help of a Jack under the drive. Everyone on the ramp was very helpful but I was terribly embarrassed.

I wish I could say that was the last stupid thing I’d done launching and retrieving but I can’t. At least these days I can start to fein dementia instead of just being a temporary idiot. Now the bystanders can just say, oh that poor guy.

We are on Desert Gold, also a 75x16-footer managed by Laketime, and we are scheduled to launch on September 26th. They were less sure about the ramp status when I talked to them, but one of the responses I got on this forum yesterday indicated that the park service has a mandate to keep the ramp open and it is located on a consistent slope that continues into much deeper water. So, they should be able to keep adding boiler plate. I sure hope they are correct. If you think of it, let me know how your launch and retrieve goes. Thanks.

The launch went fine on the 14th. They had a little delay getting the boat where it was all the way off the trailer and floating free but the Laketime pilot said that was normal for launching on boilerplate. I will try to attach my crappy video of the launch here.

Video didn't make it.....had the wrong extension on the address or something like that.

Thanks for the photos of the ramp. Hopefully will be launching Thursday evening and will try to post an update if conditions change. Looks like the WebCam is showing an excavator there this morning.
 
Just talked to the guy driving the track hoe. His job is to improve the grade going into the water. Make it a little steeper conceivably? He also confirmed that they are the company putting in the new ramp at Antelope point marina. I told him that the date of November 27 has been announced. He said it’ll be close.

No wait to launch at 4:45 PM on Wednesday. Four-wheel-drive low was money.

Backed in until my exhaust pipe was blowing bubbles.

@Trix it’s one of those Rams with the Laramie Stealth upgrade 🤣

Was a bit concerned as my son chose the north lane nearest the courtesy dock. Felt a bit steeper than the middle. But in 4WD Low the gravel was no problem at all.

Also saw a Loader and Excavator parked by the dumpsters. They may be there to dredge out some of the runoff that’s been accumulating on the closed south side. (Maybe preparation for concrete?🤞🤞🤞
