Stateline Ramp this morning

The old asphalt ramp by Wahweap Marina was open to the public for a short while back in either 2021 or 22 (as I recall). But due to age and length of time submerged, it quickly began to deteriorate. Now it sees only limited use by Aramark and Park Service.

Yup, get that it's deteriorated.....like myself.....but.....if that is the best slope near Wahweap.....maybe it can be restored for 'some' use.... :unsure:
 
I am planning to launch a houseboat and ski boat on September 25th. With the water level continuing to go down, the math tells me the Stateline Auxiliary Ramp will be unusable again by then, despite the park service's efforts to extend the ramp with boiler plate. I have been unable to connect with anyone who can shed some light on further plans to mitigate the situation. Does anyone know of someone I can speak to about this? Thanks.
 
They are adjusting the boiler plates every 3 or 4 days, and houseboats are still launching and retrieving. We didn't have any issues last Thursday or Sunday. And, we only waited 20 minutes to retrieve. No problem! Not sure of any specific person you can contact? Best bet would be to keep up with the news updates for Glen Canyon NRA on their website.

Not sure size of your houseboat…We’ll be launching “Yachtzee” (12x36 Kayot) Thursday Sept 10. Dodge Ram 3500 4WD Dually Cummins with a 36’ gooseneck trailer. Not anticipating any issues, we had no problems in ‘22 before ramp extension on 100% steel boiler plates.

Will update here post-launch. She goes back on the trailer around the 19-20th and will post another update then as well.

We launch the Tuscan Vista, a 75 by 16 ft houseboat on the 14th of September and return on the 22nd. It is dry docked at Laketime in Page. The Laketime manager has said that they expect to be launching until the end of the boating season in late October. The NPS has told them that the Stateline Ramp will be available with extended boilerplate and new concrete when needed. I will try to make videos of our launch and retrieval but sometimes I get so excited by being on the water I forget. Plus I'm almost as old as one of the sandstone layers in the Grand Canyon.

We are on Desert Gold, also a 75x16-footer managed by Laketime, and we are scheduled to launch on September 26th. They were less sure about the ramp status when I talked to them, but one of the responses I got on this forum yesterday indicated that the park service has a mandate to keep the ramp open and it is located on a consistent slope that continues into much deeper water. So, they should be able to keep adding boiler plate. I sure hope they are correct. If you think of it, let me know how your launch and retrieve goes. Thanks.

Thanks very much for this update. I really appreciate it. The slope of the ramp looks okay, which is what I was concerned about.

Sept 10, 2026 - 11 am Elevation 3,517’
Line about an hour long. Approx 40-50’ of 3”+ rock/gravel between end of concrete and the steel plates. Mostly two at a time.

Some drivers were chatting up strategy in line. If folks agreed in advance and were comfortable they would share the left side to make three at a time launch/retrieve (there’s plenty of room for most capable drivers.

The timeshare houseboat semi driver said he’s not having any trouble. He recommended 4WD to ensure no spinning out in the rock/gravel section. I noticed a few spots in the gravel where 2WD vehicles dug small potholes. The key when retrieving with 2WD is when the boat is hooked up and still semi floating, slowly gain momentum and dont slow down or stop until on the concrete. Stopping in the gravel in 2WD and then trying to move forward again may not turn out well. (Duplicate pics due to weak connection)

Not yet. The previous concrete batch plant location next to Wahweap Marine Service Center isn’t showing any sign of activity.

The South side of the ramp looks like it got washed out by recent monsoons. If there was any gravel there before it’s now covered in muddy sand. That’s why it’s barricaded.

Probably they’ll need to wait a few more weeks for the unstable weather to subside. It’d be a bummer if they invested a lot of time and money forming and placing rebar just to have a storm come through and wipe it out before they could pour.
 
Had that happen in MT pulling a friend's boat onto a gravel road after a shore launch, day of water play and maybe a beer or two. The boat ended up in the middle of the road (no traffic fortunately). Did what these folks appear to have done. It was a roller trailer so backed the trailer up to it, secured the tow strap better, and backed the vehicle slowly while winching until the boat was back where it belonged, well tied down and proceeded home.
