Last time I was down at Bullfrog and drove past the old marina store to the docks it helped put in better perspective how much of a difference 100 vertical feet could make. Found this other view of the store in ‘83. At least I’m pretty sure it’s ‘83 and not ‘84, but I have to admit I wasn’t even a twinkle in the eye at that point.BA386986-D4A9-4800-8D27-75B93617ECE4.jpeg

My 1st time to Powell was in 76' at Wahweap, then we'd go to Paiute Farms a lot...from 79' on as it's not that far from Mexican Hat. We used to play music for the employee parties at Halls and we'd take a houseboat out as 'trade'! That was in the early 80's, also went out from SJ Marina in houseboats a few times...it was so beautiful & we had the lake to ourselves, I haven't been back there for a long time, always meant to after we got back into boats after a hiatus (kids, rodeos, horses) & bought a houseboat...keep it at Wahweap or Halls, now. Great pics!

Joy, Do you have any pics of Paiute Farms from 1980s? My wife and I went there last year. I posted a topic with pics on WW if you want to see what it looks like now.

We came in 92 ? at Hite. Not many places to park the truck and boat trailer, so we found a place near the shore. A guy seeming suspicious to us asked how long we would be gone. We thought he was a lurker/robber. Any way, eventually told him we were going camping/fishing for probably 3 days. He said well, your truck wont be here when you get back. We Knew it. Them's fighting words. Then he said the water was coming up a foot a day.
Well after not really believing him we did decide to move the rig. That night at our camp I stuck a stick at the edge of the water, and by the next evening sure as shootin, up a foot. Incredible massive amount of water to raise that whole lake a foot a day.
