Not sure what level the lake has to be, but there's a cut down in the San Juan that take's off a few mile's. I took a house boat through there one year and scared the heck out of every one that were still on the boat. The rest had all ready took off on the fishing boat's.
I know the cut, our first few years on the SJ we thought there was an island between Deep and Desha Canyons. The first year my husband went we skied around the “island”. 2 years later it was a peninsula and he couldn’t believe we’d skied over what was know a 10’ ridge

My first year was 1983, we knew nothing. Family rented a houseboat out of Hite. There was so much debris in the water, we bent many props on that trip..........Came back in 85', 87', 89', 91' and so on. I remember every year swimming under Rainbow bridge, always weird seeing it now and no water.

I loved the poison tree frog T-shirts - and the others were also great - the ones today are ho-hum and
of no interest - get that person back who was doing the selecting much earlier

Don't think we will ever see it kept up high over the winter. Probably has to be kept at least 75 feet low or else where would they put the winter's snow melt? It was nice for the short time it was high how ever.

Two years ago, I parked in that parking lot and called for the shuttle to take me down to the slips. I told them I was at "the old Marina store", and they didn't even know what that building was. "Oh, you must mean the maintenance shop"....... :(

Wow. What great color in those pics.

You other old timers are really bringing back the memories of a college student (me) and friends from our early days. One of my fondest recollections is slow trolling a chartreuse colored beetle spin from a rubber raft (powered by the car battery we removed from my friends car) along the shoreline just south from the current BF ramp. We came back with about 6 mega crappies and 2 LM bass to provide dinner to a bunch of poor students. We were heroes.

Lake Powell has since provided many beautiful trips. Hope it does the same for other families.

I remember when there was a marina in the Rainbow Bridge canyon and being able to drive your boat up to the Bridge (we would never drive under it out of respect for the Native Americans)..
Yep me too. If the marina was closed you could pump your gas and put the cash in a coffee can inside the box on a post on the dock!!!
And I’m only 53 lol
Tells you how long I’ve been on the lake😂
