OK sports fans! Here is my Howard Oatman story: As many of you know Howard used to winter for a few months in Mesquite, Nv. I contacted Howard after a few posts on Wayne's Words and found him. We had a nice afternoon in the Eureka Casino. We decided to go trout fishing at Enterprise Lake. This was just before the ice at Enterprise (located west of St George and north of Mesquite). We arrived to cold temps and ended up on the far north shore against the rocks in the main lake. Sure enough Howard caught his limit of trout long before I did. We got to trade many stories of Lake Powell, me on the south end and Howard on the north end. It was a great trip and in the spring he sent me a boat load of Oatman lures. I still use them today. I did not get to see him after our trip and was sad to hear he passed away 2 years later. He, as everyone says was a true gentleman, .
I also noticed mentioned TC or TopCat or Terry. Well sure enough I contacted him and got him to travel to Lake Powell. He arrived and we went to Gun Sight in the late fall (2016). Happened to find a couple of boils and you should have seen his reaction. A year later I contacted him in Richfield Utah and we decided to go ice fishing at Fish Lake. Although the fishing was slower than Lake Powell, we caught enough fish for a dinner.
