Only complained about the tournament. There were tournaments before I was born and there will be tournaments after I die. Obviously there is an underlying thought from you @Wet1 and others that I’ve opened the flood gates. I guess when it was shoulder to shoulder at Farley in the 80’s and 90’s they were watching YouTube too.

If there really is a thought like that I really am sorry. I don’t want to be the cause of anything of the sort. I honestly don’t feel like it’s any more crowded than it ever has been. My only frustration is big nice bass being taken out of the far north multiple times a year, but I guess as has been said that’s been happening for a while and will always happen. Powell has handled it. Maybe it seemed more tight cause in reality the lake is a lot smaller right now.

But If the thought is that we are ruining an area I will for sure tone down everything. I don’t want people mad or pointing blame at us. That’s not our effort, and I can handle that.

All fishing spots are tighter at low water which puts everyone closer together. Bass tournaments in April increase the use and angler presence each year, but more so at low water.

The benefit of your videos is incredible and they need to be continued. You target an isolated location that can handle more fishing and pleasure boats.

The lake is stable now and will begin to rise soon. The runoff will send more boats downstream than uplake to Good Hope. In May total use, fishing and camping at GHB will be small.

All is well. Keep doing what you are doing. It is much appreciated.

Wayne

Keep up the good work , a lot of good information comes from videos.

Keep up the good work, I complained a little about the tournament boats at the dock but only saw a few once we all scattered. Heck I have seen the lake busier than it was this week even back in the eighties. You were kind enough to tell me to come share the water with you, even though we didn’t see you I looked for you. You are doing a lot of good stuff, please keep it up. I wish I knew a tenth about fishing that lake as you do. There will always be a few complain no matter what you do. Thanks for sharing!

I watch a ton of fishing videos and even have several of my own on Youtube. The funny thing to me is, on a reservoir like Powell, there are so many great places to catch fish and when an exact location is reported to have hot fishing the masses collect and often many other nearby locations may have just as hot of fishing and may be ignored. If you find a crowd in one spot try another one a mile or two away.

Jeep week in Moab and your surprised it's busy! Busiest week of the year, it is a big deal!
Don't jeep anymore. Just backpack. Not surprised it is busy, just noting that verses past years it seems there are a lot of people out there. Same here in Breckenridge. Used to have more of shoulder seasons. Those are getting shorter as well. I have to adjust. Just trying to support Dungee Fishing. Like the detailed reports when I can't be down there all the time. Have two trips planned but never enough!

I have to add another comment. I have been complaining to my grand kids for several years about how the good ole days are gone. The days when I could go fly fishing and have the stream to myself, go coyote calling and never see another hunter, and so on and so on. The fact is these are the good ale days for them because it will only get worse. There are a LOT of people anymore, secretes are few and far between, secrete turkey ridges are gone. It is the way it is and I have had to learn to adjust. I used to have more turkey spots than I could hunt, now I have to work hard to find a bird that I can be alone on. I would rather have good sportsmen & women educated about whatever sport they chose with good ethics around me than the other option. Keep educating them Preston, please. This site has been good for that. That's my rant!

As a somewhat of a tournament guy I fish a few but mostly with friends and family. It's a double edge sword nothing worse in a tournament to pull up to a hole and there's a camp or just someone fishing or your just fishing and a tournament boat. It's a big lake with more than enough water to fish we are all doing something we love to do. As for the release of tournament fishing your supposed to take them away from the scales and put them back on structure of some kind.i know not everyone dose this but it is talked about. Keep making your shows you can never have too much info. Anyway s that's my 2cents

Been celebrating my birthday April 17 on the lake for the last 36 years . Would go days with out seeing another boat . That was before the internet . Those were the good ol days . 3 pound crappie were common . It's still magical . Up to us to pass it on to our grand kids . Release those black crappie . And yes the fish from those tournaments , should be spread around the lake . Like they do in other Waters . Just build it into the pot . To pay for gas and someone's time . God bless you All . Keep pounding the water !

34 tournament boats on Powell is nothing, we have tournaments pulling 80 boats on little lakes like Bartlett in AZ. They launch in 30 minutes at daylight and are off the water by 3:00. I would take a 100 boat tournament over a Poker run event. I bet none of the bass fishermen, wake boats or poker runners want to drain the lake. We need to embrace them all and share the lake with them as it belongs to all of us.

A check mark to Preston’s comment re: LMB being dumped at Bullfrog, I caught my biggest LMB directly across from the launch ramp last year. It was close to #6 lbs. Just saying. Keep up the good work with the videos. Sitting in the rain at the BF campground right now waiting for morning. Sq

Some bass dumped at Bullfrog will like their surroundings and available food and stay, others could wind up 10 or more miles away anyway, they don't much have too to much to worry about, find the bait you find the fish

I think I recall you sitting on the ramp waiting for something a while back. You're in the thick of it. Kudos Squirrel.

I'm an old fart, so I am not really into the social media stuff. So i'm Not sure why people feel the need to record on video and post everything online😏. That being said, I dont feel your videos are causing more people to head to LP, or head north. A lake Powell trip to GHB takes too much effort planning and gear for that. I just think Some spring days are crowded up there when you don't expect it. then there are days when you are prepared for a zoo, and have it nearly to yourself.

The thing that sets this forum apart from others is the willingness of others to help strangers catch fish at LP. I hope that stays the same!!!!

I’ve lurked a long time on this site, reading reports and trying to get a feel for lake Powell fishing along with hoping and wishing I was there. Finally, this weekend I get that opportunity!

The videos by Dungee have certainly helped to heighten the excitement level. I’ve been watching them intermittently for years now.

You can look at this two ways IMO. Did the videos help to bring a guy from Wyoming to Powell, who otherwise would’ve never went to Powell? Have they helped bring others there in the past? Sure...they didn’t hurt.

On the other hand, wouldn’t you have people out enjoying the same resource you’ve come to love? Wouldn’t you want people on your side in an ever strengthening fight for water so that “your lake” gets to remain such a special place? The same goes with the battle over hunting and fishing as a whole. Don’t you think it’s a good idea to introduce people to fishing???

In the end Dungee’s videos didn’t MAKE me come to Powell. They certainly helped fuel the fire and make it possible. They also gave me a few tips on where to start my search for fish and what baits to use. In the end, they’re entertainment and they’re pieces of knowledge for a rookie to look at.

If you’re against any kind of advertisement for lake Powell then I’d suggest quitting this site first and foresmost. It’s the first thing that pops up when you google “Lake Powell fishing.” Maybe send Wayne some hate mail for doing such a great job of advertising this place. I would send all the marinas and local hotels and “resorts” the same hatr mail while you’re at it.

So, while this may be a doozy of a first post, I won’t sit back and watch a guy get chastised on the internet for putting out a video. I just lived it this winter when I released a video of myself catching a 30 lb lake trout and some buddies catching some other high quality fish that weekend. I couldn’t believe the out rage it caused and the stress it caused my buddies and myself, which included my buddy almost coming to blows on the ice with a fellow angler who was causing quite the scene. All because someone feels it’s their own personal lake. Meanwhile they’re the first ones to swoon over the fact that ksl is on the lake, or talking the local fishing guide’s ears off so they can be buddy buddy with them.

Secrets should be kept a secret and I understand that. However I’d much rather watch an “average Joe” catch a mess of fish on a lake I’m headed to shortly, or one of my buddies finding success on flaming gorge, than watch a bunch of dudes telling me how to catch bluegill on their private pond on the outdoor channel.

End of rant.
