Drones

Judging from the pictures that were posted, no one should be getting a visit from the FAA. haha
Any questions about the "Basic" rules for flying a drone?

https://drone-registration.net/required-to-be-registered/

Like it has been said, be smart with the thing and respectful towards others and there shouldn't any problems.

With that being said, we have been at the lake (Bullfrog Bay) and had drones fly over. Didn't have any issue with it at all, but it also didn't stop and hover over our campsite either. I personally would love to see some drone footage of Lake Powell. Bet someone has some awesome footage. :)

Registered under Recreational (Section 336) or Commercial under Part 107?

Just curious, maybe you'll be delivering my Amazon order one day.:D

107, and working on 336-333.

I try not to advertise any cert because people get weird talking about “drones”. I posted that comment above while under the influence of Scotch ;)

As long as I stay under 400 feet and don’t charge money I don’t think the 333 is necessary, but I believe I do need that to legally do it for profit so I’m working on it.

You basically just have to learn the same education as Ground School for a regular fixed wing pilot license.

It’s a very real business opportunity and I enjoy doing it.

It does seem that we've become a society of self important people (obviously I'm including myself), where we think our lives, jobs or hobbies are more interesting than anyone else's. We tend to get a little upset when our Facebook post about our wonderful vacation only gets 22 likes and 4 shares(so much for "friends"). We should all do what we like and not worry so much about external acceptance/acclimation.

I know what you mean.. I posted a picture of Mac & Cheese and it got only 44 likes..

Excellent video - I watched it full screen - great clarity!

My first flight today away from home. I had some technical difficulties when I was first getting started, and I was unable to use the camera for some reason. That, plus flying in an area I don't know made me pretty uncomfortable, and I didn't fly as long as I would have liked.

I think it will take me a while to get comfortable flying in an area that I am not familiar with the ground features. I'm heading to the West Slope this week for work, should get some more flight time in between appointments.

Still working through technical difficulties. Sometimes the focus on the videos is great. Sometimes less so.......

As you can see, there is still some snow in the hills.

These are all around Ouray. By the time I finished up work, the light wasn't cooperating as much as I had hoped.
