CAUTION, LOW WATER

Great photos! That spot always freaked my out when heading uplake from Bullfrog. It seemed like it is way out in the middle of the reservoir, right near the channel where you would expect it to be deep!!! The houseboats are nearly blocking the channel, it guides people toward that shallow spot.....

Is that all that's left of Hall's Creel Bay in the background of the bottom pic?

This clearly illustrates the difficulty for folks without navigation chips, depth finders, and the murky water that'll come with the runoff. When the water was lower that point goes almost to the Halls bouy field. The point heading out of Stanton does the same. Thanks for everybody here for the heads up.

I believe that shallow ridge north of the bouy field was covered by about 40-50 feet of water - 2 years ago same time of year. A guy from Carbondale (?) spooned up a 30+ lb cow on it!!!

No electronic navigation? All you gotta do is look at a USGS topo map (yes, an old style paper version ($8) will work) to readily see this area will be out of the water between water level 3560 and 3580. At 3569 yesterday. If money is an issue, see the map at the USGS map store for free ( https://prd-tnm.s3.amazonaws.com/St...0/UT_Halls Crossing_362880_1987_24000_geo.pdf). Any USGS topo will also indicate where the main channel is located heading up Bullfrog. With map in hand, simple dead reckoning will tell you to avoid this area and take you into the bay channel, to then follow the navigational aids. Rather than whining about the lack of buoys, I think, as a responsible captain, that I bear sole responsibility for making sure I pilot my vessel where it won't ground. I dunno, maybe I should expect the government to wipe my nose and check the oil in my car.
