Funny thing about this, Matt is 175 miles from Bullfrog when I'm only 66 miles.
Unless you have that extra money burning a hole in your pocket and like sitting stuck in the sand for an extra 1.5 hours.
Not to mention I won't make you famous on Youtube for getting too close to the waters edge. haha

Being the optimist, I was thinking it would be for a short time and then the lake would fill up. I hope for a temporary ramp that we don’t see for years to come. In reality it should be planned and built for future use and to last for decades. I still want to get on the lake now though! What is the solution for next four months? I need to be quiet and see what happens. Thanks for the thoughts, they did make me think. 😁. Happy New Year!

I watch his videos and he does some great rescues. Don't get me wrong, respect all the way.
BUT......
I am a one man shop with no "camera crew" and usually work twice as hard to get the job done.
Example?
I had a rescue in the bottom of a 450' long slope "sand bowl" where the individual drove down expecting to get out the other side. didnt happen.

Me, my gear, my winch and truck took 9 hours getting this truck out of this sand bowl. My wife actually called search and rescue because it took so long! It was 20x worse than any rescue I've seen Matt do on Youtube.

The customer even asked me, "what if you get stuck down here?" My reply? "We'll need resources neither of us can afford." 2 hours later, we were on dry pavement on Hwy 24 North of Hanksville

I don't have a camera crew. I don't have multiple trucks. That is why my fees beat any other company in the area. Don't under estimate the small guy.

Maybe, someday, I can be youtube famous when I can afford the camera crew. Until then, good old fashioned honest billing and service.

it's out of all of our hands. I would hope we all has the same optomism. I share yours! Do the snow dances and make everyones dreams come true my friend. ;)
 
One possible explanation for slow (or no) action on north ramp access is that visitor count at south lake is multiple times the people using the north end. In fact, south count is increasing year by year, while north count is decreasing year by year, so the gap between the two keeps growing.

Does that make us 'NORTHENDERS' any less valuable. We still pay for our parks passes, camping, storage, fees and do;llars into the North end businesses. Having all the ramp rebuilding in the South end doesn't help us one bit at his piont. It is OUR NRA, which we pay for through our tax dollars and should not be discounted due to the # of annual visits. The lack of launch ramps affects ALL of us North enders. Sq

while visitor count on the south is higher, I believe the count on the north end is GROSSLY under reported. In the last couple years i’ve only seen the gate open 7 staffed when I arrive, in the middle of the day, 1 out of every 6-7 trips. Even 4-5 years ago we’d only see the gate staffed 1 out of every 3-4 trips
 
Call me crazy but can’t you just call the guy? (Schott) I had an issue a while back and managed to talk to Lyle Laverty (assistant director interior fish and wildlife) directly after about a day of trying. There were a lot of ugly rumors going around back then in my area and people were accusing him of quite a bit. Man was I surprised when he turned out to be a pretty good guy with great discussion. Again, maybe crazy talk but if I were that worked up I would just go talk to the man.

Good thinking TR. Depending on what happens Monday, it might be a plan to start trying to call. Shott seemed a great guy in the interview posted on this site a couple of months back. Sounded like someone cheerful and knowledgeable and with whom you wouldn’t mind having a beer or spending a day fishing. Trouble is, after a “great discussion” where do you go? Blowing smoke doesn’t re-open the lake. He’s laid a huge threat on the table. Not cool. It’s a new year and a new beginning. I’m going to hope he chooses the better path and this will all blow over. This lake is too beautiful to be half shut down for 4 months.
 
The sad part about this is Shott is only the door mat in front of the inapproachble house. He can be the best guy and have the best intentions on the planet but if his cookie sales fall on deaf ears, it's not going to go anywhere.

Honestly, I'm dreading the day it comes from an officials mouth. Comparing Bullfrog to Hite. Sadly, That might be how officials are looking at Bullfrog/Hall behind closed doors.

We do have a receeding lake after all. No one can deny that fact. :(

I really do hope they come up with something fast, but then I keep reminding myself it's the governement in charge.

Still crossing my fingers and doing my snow dances.

it seems that at the north end if a lot of people are launching without anyone being there that there needs to be some way to let them know you've launched so they could count it? a ballot box type of set up, where you can drop a slip in on the way by... just a thought.

i'm hoping with this season so much snow that low ramps aren't needed for another year or five. :) good luck everyone out there i'm hoping for you to all get plenty of more snows plus some good strategic rains at the right time (right at the end of the run-off season :) )... !!!!! <-- extra exclamation marks just to let Momma Nature know i care. :)

This is the gospel truth. They have inaccurate counts for the north end, which results in fewer resources dedicated to the north end. Consequently, the lack of resources leads to suppressed visitation (not necessarily reduced visitation, but lower numbers than otherwise). The gates are only manned during peak times at Bullfrog and seemingly not at all at Halls. I don't know if they are pulling visitation numbers from the boat launches though, but these do not include a) houseboats that don't launch an additional boat, and b) boats that launch outside the hours the launches are manned.

It would be nice if someday the north end had adequate power in Halls Marina, better on-water facilities for dining, paved parking lots and marina roads, etc. but with inaccurate counts, nothing seems to get done.
 
No further “low water updates” from Mary Plumb about Jan 3 closure at north end. Wonder when first person on this site will launch and report back?
