We've never had anything of real value stolen while in the BF slips. I think they may be marginally safer than the buoy field just because there are more eyes around (and video cameras down each walkway). I don't think that thieves come specifically to the lake to find their bounty - it's just too far away from civilization - but there are crimes of opportunity. If you leave a desirable object within reach of an opportunist, it may disappear whether in the slips, the parking lot, or on a beach.
One theft that chaps my cheeks is our fake owls - not because they're priceless, but because the ravens and swallows will move in and make a mess of the place. We're currently owl-less...
Assuming 1) you have a HB in slip or bout at halls/Bullfrog and 2) we have on lake access to duel at Halls/Bullfrog
Launch at Page, speedboat loaded with coolers, sleeping bags, etc. 3.5 to 4 hours easy cruise to Hallās/ Bullfrog. Use HB in slip/buoy as home base for 5-7 days. Cruise back to Page and pull speedboats. Itās ugly and a hassle, but hey, a day cruising up,air isnāt the worst thing I can think of, And all the empty lake above MM30 will be worth it

going to sound weird but here in SD, boaters use fake coyotes on the deck and somehow that keeps the seagulls away, going to look pretty obvious carrying the fake coyote off the dock... just an observation, no scientific data behind my post. cheers!

We have had our 31 foot SeaRay cruiser in the Bullfrog slips for almost 15 years. The only things we have lost to theft were a dock line and an anchor. The anchor was one we recovered buried on a beach, and we left it lying on deck at the end of our slip - so it wasnāt a financial or emotional loss. We have stored kayaks locked to the bow rail during some years, but donāt leave much of value that is visible or easily accessible. If someone wanted to break into the cabin - that would be possible, but still wouldnāt yield much of value. We keep stuff locked in the dock box or bring it with us.
All that being said - with the fluctuation in water level, we are starting to wonder if we are either the luckiest OR stupidest boat owners on the Lake. Lucky to be in the water and not having to worry about launching or retrieving, but also leery about what happens if the boat needs to come out (whether for service or sale). Selfishly - We love the idea of fewer people populating the north end; but to watch the decline in facilities and services is heartbreaking. We are seriously evaluating what the future holds - and whether this will finally be the year we pull out and off the Lake permanently. There may be a sweet deal coming on a meticulously maintained (2000) 31ā SeaRay . . 2022 promises to be a very interesting year !

Getting a slip is a no go, I am told they do not have any long term rentals available. It is going to be pretty lonely on the north end for those that do get to fish it. Really disappointing to me that they will not make some variances to allow people to leave a boat on the water during these difficult times but he was firm with his answers. I guess it is back to the Wahweap plan, either fish south or take two trucks and travel North on the water and pick up the gear and people. I would love to support them but I will probably camp now and not motel it. As previously stated they would not haggle or even talk about accommodating my request.

Just guessing here, but if they are looking at moving the slips closer to the main channel, it would be easier with fewer boats tied up.

It is awesome! Quiet, fuel efficient and surprising power. 150 Pushes same ranger hull about same speed thaty my old ranger did with 175 proxs optimax. Hard to find a negative post on that motor on the internet, saltwater guys run them thousands of hours, so far so good got it last fall.

Thatās funny, because when I was down there I went in the office and asked if the overnight slips could be rented monthly and he said yes for like ~450$ per month. That place kills me.
