Contrarian view here. I was in a tent 31 days last season at LP, and have done the same for years, if not decades. I've had good luck with my tent strategy. I camp in a Coleman 8x10 tent, put up properly with tie downs. It survives the wind (generally) and stays dry inside (generally). My personal opinion is that when the wind comes up, it will destroy just about anything, so I haven't made a big investment in a tent. Disclaimer: I always have a backup though, just in case.
