Sorry, I guess I am dense on this. Do you bury these?

I usually pound them in takes some time because the line side is down works like a deadman anchor I use cheap clips from hardware store to attach to tentSorry, I guess I am dense on this. Do you bury these?
This sounds like a good way to do it. I always use concrete stakes that are like 24" long and they seem to work well. You can bury

As always endurance you bring up good sensible points and I always appreciate your posts. Yes, I have had issues finding stake placements for my tents. What can look like an awesome piece if real estate turns into solid rock 6 inches down. I carry both sand stakes, metal spikes and plastic large anchors because of this. To be honest, I usually just sleep on the boat no matter what, using a bivvy if needed. When the family comes I have to adapt and find a tent placement...just what it is. For what it is worth I will bring a bunch of cord and sometimes have to move a stake a ways off the loop, using twine. Not optimal but it works. Almost always I can get a few spikes in somewhere and work off of that. I do have a number of small mountaineering tents that I can use that are free standing but when the family comes, no other tent has been anywhere near as good as my springbar, I just look for a site accordingly. That being said, I bought into Striper Steve’s houseboat last year and I am loving every second of it. No tents and Steve is the best houseboat manager anyone could ask for.We tent camped for the first 30 or so years of going to Powell and had the best luck with a tent that didn't depend on being staked down. Being able to set up a freestanding tent on solid rock opens up a lot of spots that aren't open to those who need to put stakes in the ground.
As much as I love a Springbar tent for car camping in the woods or for winter camping, I haven't found them very useful at Powell. We purchased a 10' x 10' tent from Eureka that was high enough to stand in, but that was in the early 80s. I am confident that there are better choices available now some 40 years later.
Just say no to having to stake a tent at Powell!
As an update, I bought a 10'x10' Kodiak. Also bought a cot from Cabelas to use inside.
Still planning on heading out there with dad next week. I do have some concerns about being completely out of touch, and I've never had good cell phone service in GHB. Might mean that we stay somewhere else.
Another variable is this will be my first trip there with my new-to-me Ranger. Going from a 60 HP Merc to a 115 HP Yamaha, I'm not 100% sure what to expect on fuel consumption. Going to take 25 extra gallons of fuel and hope that we don't have to make a trip back to Bullfrog.
If your 115 Yamaha is a four stroke you will love the gas mileage to you don’t over RPM itAs an update, I bought a 10'x10' Kodiak. Also bought a cot from Cabelas to use inside.

How big is the tank in the boat? We have a 26 gallon tank and a 115 horse. We’ve brought 25 extra a few times, even on longer trips haven’t needed that much. If you can, do it, but I think you’ll come to find the 115 is very fuel efficient as well.

What do you use for a bag Garry?I use sand bags !
FWIW, my Lund 1800 / 150 Yamaha has a 26 gallon tank. Cruising at ~3800RPM (28-29mph), we can go from BF to the Horn and back fishing on 15 gallons of fuel.As an update, I bought a 10'x10' Kodiak. Also bought a cot from Cabelas to use inside.
