Basketball courts at Dangling Rope

At least the NPS has enough money and manpower to buy a sign and have an employee put it up. It goes to show that they haven't forgotten about Dangling Rope. That road is in Government Cove on the backside of DR and it's where all the supplies arrived via barge. I camped on the other side to the left of the sign a couple times before they put in the "Do Not Enter" buoys at its entrance.

My guess is she didn’t say it as that was part of my subject line in my original email question. It undoubtedly is the hoops at DR.

I’m working on a follow up email to her. The crux of which is I honestly don’t really care about the courts. It’s a very minor thing, but at best it is terrible optics. Comes across as vindictive and petty.

I’d also suggest that with absolutely everything else that NPS could put resources into (and that list is LONG) to spend money and time to cut and leave the hoops is an irresponsible act.

At some point they need to have some accountability for how they are spending the fees from the tiered boat passes.

Does anyone have an estimate of how much additional revenue that is?

As far as I can remember, upper DR employee housing was always off-limits to the public. Not sure why anyone would presume removal of the marina changed anything…sign or no sign…

A portable band saw and leave it where it falls. Eye for an eye. This kind of thing makes my blood boil. "administrative area" absolutely wild. It's a national park/recreation area that belongs to the tax payers. In the 45 years I've been going to the lake the amount of "administrative employees" added far outweighs the actual boots on the ground people who do the labor to keep the area running. Just look at the floating toilets and lack of simple infrastructure to keep things running. We don't need fancy things on the lake, Functioning floating toilets, accessible launch ramps, and docks. Monitoring channel buoys for accurate locations would be a bonus as well as shoal buoys on the main channel.

I agree, Boat 405..... I have been told repeatedly by lifetime gov't folks that the added administrative employees are there as a buffer....in downturns, the less senior ones get let go, before they do. It's really just that simple. As Darwin aptly called it: 'Survival of the bureaucrats' Love that book.

Not taking a position on removing the sign, I agree with your sentiments. I don't need much at the lake, but what you single out is a pretty low bar that should be attainable, but hasn't been for years.
