Got a sooner - powder - and an I know it. I really like the I know it. Have several other lures in that color pattern - pearl white with a chartreuse stripe and a blueish gray back. Did not have any trouble with the hooks or rings on the whopper ploppers. Got pretty aggressive removing the hooks also. Have not been since the first of the month. We were going to make a short trip this last weekend but decided not to due to the lack of decent reports. I think the moon makes a difference. Have always had good luck on the first new moon in August with boiling stripers. I think they feed a lot at night during the full moon cycles and don't have to feed as much during the day. Bow hunting for elk will take priority through the end of September. Planning on 3 trips this fall. Around Halloween is always good. Last couple years we have cooked a turkey on the lake in the grill for Thanksgiving. Don't catch as many fish in late November but they are usually bigger fish for some reason?
well --- I acted like the fish and took the bait ---- I ordered 8 of the knock offs on July 25th --- they arrived from china yesterday--- I am headed down for the long weekend and will give them the old college try ---- I am taking some extra buoyancy foam for my boat because I do not want to sink when I "fill er up"Good luck on your archery hunt! I also have one coming up in the end of September.
Sure makes for a hard life to try to fit in all these hobbies some days!
I am banking on your moon theory myself! I also prefer to plan our trips around the new moon whenever possible. This year is working out perfect with the new moon being this weekend for our fishing trip, and again right in the middle of my hunt next month!![]()

I second the skimmer. I really like the feel of it and it casts well. I like the LC Sammy a bit too but I think it goes to the skimmer for schoolie stripers and bass fishing.Ima Skimmer (smaller size). We had great success with the old school Rebel Jumpin minnows in bone color in slurps.
Try the HOOK UPLooked up all the baits mentioned above. All looked like good options. Especially intrigued by the Whopper plopper. The reviews on it were outstanding. Has any body else noticed that Bass pro shops prices have went up 30 to 50 % since they bought out Cabela's. Where's a good discount online discount fishing supply store? I can use my gift certificates for hunting boots or archery supplies when they go on sale.
Have hooked 2 fish on the same lure a dozen times or so, small mouth and stripers. Never caught 2 different fish though like Wayne had.
Thanks for every ones input!
