You might look at craigslist, there are a couple of boats on there.

A boat is a must. A rental power boat will hold your entire party. Full boat but doable. Split among your group shouldn't break the bank. Earlier the better cause of the heat(for me anyway, but I'm way past 20s.) Fishing is so much easier from a boat,especially for small mouth which are abundant and fun to catch. Don't regret later not chipping in to get the boat. Be safe...

By the way, when you look at Powell favorite pictures, note that the vast majority are from a boat

Using a boat has another benefit when fishing as well, you lose a LOT less tackle. Powell's rocky bottom will cause you to lose a number of lures if fishing from the shore. With a boat you can almost always(95%) backtrack and retrieve your lure after a hangup..

If ya wanted to go with the inflatable, I have a used electric trolling motor I can sell for $75. Been in the water twice since new and too small for our boat now. I do have batteries in stock also.
