Some random questions before departure

Do you ever take this trap with you to Powell to have fresh bait for the next day's fishing? I was just going through the Utah fishing brochure and it seems to me like that would be legal as long as they are dead, right? I would think fresh caught would last for a couple days on ice without getting mushy, or am I wrong on that? Might be a nice alternative to those frozen anchovies if they become scarce in the stores.

I throw a net for them at Powell, it is much quicker to get them, Not as bulky as traps. I have never tried trapping the Shad at Powell, but you probably could. When I get Shad in my throw net I put them in a gallon bag, and strait on ice. And they stay good for a couple days, before I throw them out. If you can get Shad, cheaper then Chovies, and are great bait for every thing in Powell.
Get you a throw net, and practice throwing and getting it to fan out right in your yard, and when you see Shad in the shallows, ease in there with your electric motor or paddle and start throwing. Hard to get them in deeper water.
My dad taught me to throw one below the Dams back home, I like the 4' diameter, the smaller, the easier to throw and lighter weight.
