San Juan Hazard

And sorry to sound like a broken record but here is another hazard. A steel stake that was there last year end of August. The pic of my boat is for reference. I missed it only by 1 foot.
Also circled the cove we were at in 'blue'. Tried to remove it but no way. It was just to the
right of the boat. If anyone goes down there soon they should see it up on the bank.

don't want to wear ir out but with all the dangerous creatures up there I'm surprised anyone dares going up there. Several earlier SJ posts noted the dangers.

Any chance that the stake could be a survey stake? I only ask because it looks short and wide just like the survey stakes I've found over the years at Lake Powell look like (as opposed to longer and skinnier for most of the houseboat stakes). In fact, at low water like this is when I've found all but one survey stake (5 of the 6 I've found on the lake). Just a thought.

The only way to tell is if you can see the top of it - it would have survey markings on top.

Could be. Water level is about 30' lower now. If anyone dares to venture the SJ maybe they
can find it based on the rock formations in the pics. Now that you mention it, it was a fairly large
diameter compared to a stake that is used to make concrete forms. Just watch out for bears.4442
