Question on Bullfrog Marina Location!!!

Hey everyone!!! I have a trip down to Powell on April 15-20th. I heard they are relocating the entire marina to Halls. My friend and I were planning on going down and just sleeping on his houseboat in the marina, then shore fishing. Just wondering if anyone knows the exact date they are moving the boats and marina? I am getting mixed information from many people, and I cannot get a hold of any park staff. For us to go, we need to know for sure that the boat and marina will be there at the time of our trip, since we live very far away. If anyone has any information or knows for sure what is going on, that would be amazing!!!

Legitimate concern you have. It’s my understanding that they will do the move in stages - probably one dock at a time. I was just there and they wouldn’t give me a date either.

I also don’t think they will allow you on your boat when it’s being moved.

I have no idea how you’d plan a trip around that uncertainty.

The note that went out explicitly said you would not be allowed on your boat when it is moving.

One thing that bothers me in their note on the move is that they stated no A/C usage will be allowed on the slips until power capacity improves. I am worried that will lead to a lot of in-slip generator use to power A/C, which could result in some major health hazards. Has anyone heard about when they would expect power issues to be resolved?

Word of mouth from Cpt Titus last weekend was 4/27 through 5/15 for slips to be moved. Always seems to be a moving target though! Do we all get to just pay bouy fees until all services are up and running? Heading down again this weekend and will update any new information given me

I read somewhere (and can’t find it now) that there would be power to slips but not enough to run air conditioning. I wish I could find that now as someone else asked me about it.

Never thought of the concern of all the generators running for 3 months to have enough power for that.

I feel ya Dawg but Absolutely Certain is a very high standard for lake powell. I feel like we have to go to Powell, it doesn’t come to us and that some of my best trips were poorly executed absolute disasters that I enjoyed. Those are the ones I really remember the most. In my opinion press on, adapt and overcome and just enjoy our glorious canyons and lakes. Drop a line in, spend some time with a friend, the rest doesn’t really matter. Best wishes

Exactly. Find a kayak if you don’t have one, bring a tent, and enjoy the lake while we still have it.

I was condsidering a trip to Bullfrog, staying at Defiance House, then renting a boat and going to Cathedral in the Desert, and Gregory Arch. If the boat rental has moved to Halls, is there a shuttle to take me from Bullfrog to Halls by water. Otherwise, how far is the drive from Bullfrog to Halls?
Thanks in advance.

Their press release said there would be water taxi service available. The big unanswered question is "when?" Might want to reach out to them via phone before making definite plans.

Bullfrog to Halls is about 2.5 hours.

Also keep in mind Halls Crossing recently upgraded the shore power to NEC 2022 code levels, unclear if Bullfrog slips were at those levels or not. If they were not, some of the older boats do not meet this code level and will trip the ELCI on the shore breaker...

This is very important... We just found out we need to spend about $2k to make some electrical fixes to our boat in order to continue getting power at Halls.

One of the messages we got from Captain Titus said that they would let us know 2 weeks in advance of the slips moving so that we could schedule around it. I really hope that is the case.....but that certainly seems overly organized by executive services standards.

Yes and maybe even swim it faster!
I’d consider canoeing over (hydrofoil, raft, kayak or swimming) and bringing my houseboat or runabout back over if there was anyplace to beach it or docks left to put it on or near. The extra five hours round trip and the fuel at today’s prices would suck, I’d rather don a life jacket and swim it if necessary; it would be more fun!

Just remember it could be worse. You could have been like us, like 30 other groups that paid for bouys all winter to only have Aramark cancel you March 1st with no warning. You guys with slips are incredibly lucky. Deal with the 2 week downtime and enjoy what LOTS of others don't have access to now.

That really does suck. I wonder if you have any recourse. If the Lake Powell Yacht Club was still alive they'd know. I wonder what happened to the LPYC anyway.
