On lake towing and boat retrieval contacts

Many standard insurance policies have towing coverage as well. I know it's offered with Progressive. But the coverage limit might not get you very far at Powell.

The other option is if you can, hitch a ride back to the marina with a passing boat and rent a blue top and tow yourself back.
For the towing for our breakdown just past Antelope Marina, Aramark charged us around $600 to tow to Wahweap. Progressive reimbursed us $500. We were lucky with our late start - if we had gotten to our destination in Rock Creek, the cost would have been much much more. For Progressive, they want you to call them to arrange for a tow. And then more of the cost would be covered. But that doesn't work on LP where (as Dworwood has already stated) Aramark holds the concession.

Good to hear a real world experience! I have also talked to them on the phone and was told to just contact Aramark and arrange the tow - like anyone else who breaks down. Then, afterward, BoatUS would reimburse the cost. Sorry to hear that didn't work in your case. Maybe I'll give them another call...
I should report that they probably are great if you are patient. The other time we tried was when my sister and her hubby lost their outdrive in the SJ. I reported on that trip about 4 years ago and at that time time they told my boy they did not cover LP so when I got home I called and this time the person on the other end told me they do not cover it but they would reimburse me. A little late to help me but I learned it does work at LP. Again I wasn’t very patient, we had a house boat full of people and our two tour boats were tied up, literally, pun intended! It took me a full day to get them to Wahweap where they could get it repaired. It only took a month for them to get it back. Now that I know how it works, I would not hesitate to use them if needed. There is one downside to the 12 volt fridges I use now, if you can’t run your motor, your ice melts pretty fast ( fridge warms up) without power. Another reason my patience wanes when things don’t work right. I do feel better knowing I can get a tow if I really need it.
