My thoughts would be the spring runoff flow and lots of logs and wood.
I'd be willing to bet one could find catfish from shore around there when it warms a little bit.
It looks like a great camping spot with nice pads. I would think that with notices on a few
RV websites that lots of folks would love to spend a few days here "in the middle of no where" :)
I might just come up from Page just to spend a couple of days. I haven't been to Hite in 35 years.
It really does look like a cool place to stop. I'm going to mention it with a link on a forum I belong to.
 
Maggie, Thanks so much for the update. Im really excited for the changes coming to Hite. Before the water levels made it impossibe it was always our favorite place to launch when we came to Powell. Been fishing Powell for 45 years and I'm quite tired of the Bullfrog Chaos. Im only 3 hours away so its pretty easy for numerous trips every year. I sure hope NPS is successful in getting the ramp done. Im also excited about the rentals. Used to spend alot of nights there back when there was rentals available. Looking forward to more updates. Thanks again and cant wait to say hello soon!
 
This is all great news when the water rises! Hite area is a great place to fish and camp! I wish someone would spend some money like this on Hall's Crossing campsites. For $50.00/ night the spaces in the RV camping area is a joke. Un level and barely any gravel makes it difficult to pay! The other camping area all spaces are so small that even single campers barely have any room. At least some where you can see some improvement on such a beautiful lake with some of the best fishing in all of the southwest!

Good question! Snowpack levels are looking really good, better than they have in a couple years. We are expecting 10 inches over the next few days here! There a few threads I saw talking a little more about exactly what levels need to be. I’m hoping by spring they will have completed the ramp.
 
For everyone worried about navigating the river, we should have a pontoon we will be using and possibly a raft or small power boat. I’ll be doing a lot of experimenting with different crafts both up river from the launch and down lake. As it gets warmer I’ll try and map it all out and have more reports on depth and general navigation in all conditions. I really want to get out there before the water starts to rise and get a feel for how things are at their lowest. It will definitely be an adventure, that’s for sure!

The water needs to be approximately 3615 to launch at the existing primitive ramp at Hite. The Lake is going to go down another 10'-ish between now and when the spring run off starts. That means we'd need to get 50' of water from the spring run off to launch at the Hite Primitive Ramp. The Primitive Hite Ramp is NOT the ramp that Maggie has been talking about getting extended. It is the ramp that BarzArz posted pictures of earlier in this thread.
