In a nutshell, your morally relative claim is as ridiculous as my examples. It is a specious claim borne of haughty affluent privilege, no more, no less.

Let me help you make a far more reasoned adult argument. This Race (yeah, I know, it's not a race).... OK, OK, this "it's not a race" race was approved by the management of GCNRA so perhaps the noise regulations were waived for the event. I for one would approve of that and that may actually have been done. There, see how easy that was?

Your argument, on the other hand, is simply a ruse, hiding behind a charity, as a reason to light your hair on fire.

Let's 'what if' your argument for an entertaining moment: If what you say is true, then what if no charity event is being sponsored??? .........then I guess, sans this all important charity event (you know, raising money for the poor children), not a single one of those boats can be started on a Utah lake or most other states for that matter, because they violate every loudness regulation on the books. Do you agree?? Or is there another morally relative exception to allow them to operate without a charity event??

We could allow for your exception and support letting them run for a cool , what number did you say?, oh yeah, a half million each time one of those pigs cranks up. Unfortunately that would still mean a majority of the time it would need to be towed around looking good because it is in a word, illegal.

I didn't make the laws but they do exist.....save the nonsensical moral relativism for a judge. I'm sure they will be as impressed as was Capone's, Gacy's and Johnson's.

Give me a break, talking a little noise. Oh and you never go 1 mph over the speed limit. You state that they would not be able to run these boats in most states, wrong! They run in every state whether it's in an event or not and do have muffler inserts at the exhaust tips. Your liberal argument on this subject is a laugh,,,,, "Do as I say not as I do"

Incidentally, modified exhaust to meet legal requirements IS legal as long as it isn't a 'Captain's Call' or some other cockpit selectable muffling*. Cockpit selectable muffling is however legal if the unmuffled exhaust already meets loudness restrictions......but then what's the point?
(* In Utah and most other states though exceptions may exist. Just ask Beachin It, he'll either surely know or just tell ya you are a speeding hypocrite ... Could go either way.)

I suppose I could help you with your retort this time if it would speed things along and help settle this:

For the record: The only time I speed, even "1 mph over the speed limit" is when I'm rushing to drop off a contribution to a worthwhile charity.
