North End WW Union Meeting

Got in late and stayed at the lodge Friday night. Got a later start and headed up the Good Hope Saturday, didn’t have camp situated til after lunch. There were a lot more boats hovering around this February than last January when we saw none up there for three days. Must be the rumors of good Striper fishing. The more the merrier on Striper fishing!

Over that half day and a full day Sunday we caught just over 50 Stripers I think? We were not catching as many as we were seeing, and like others have mentioned you had to be right over them or you were missing some, and even when right over them sometimes they didn’t care. We used slab spoons, and my dad and I threw either a tube or a walleye assasin and fan casted those in the general areas we were fishing. Weather was great, fishing was great and it was another safe and awesome trip to the best place. It was the most members we have run into and it was a blast catching up or meeting some, even if briefly. It’s been said many times but it’s great to have such a great community of anglers who are like minded and good to be around. I know if something were to go wrong they’d help in a second, let alone share tips and spots.

Over this trip and few recent ones I’m noticing some extra water getting into our crestliner. So we spent some time trying to trouble shoot. Even with the livewell drain and livewell intake plugged I was still getting some in, especially during running on plane, then coming off, possible old water coming from the bow? Idk, I’m doubting any type of crack or leak on the hull as we’ve never hit anything significant etc.? Other than the seats threading coming apart and a few minor things like tightening the windshield this is the first relative issue we’ve had with this boat. Anyway, that isn’t the fun part.

Not many pics this time, but Nixon was promising Kevin more videos so maybe I can hand those duties off to him now ha.

Nice tent.

Great pics & sorry about your leak.....but we boaters know at some time boats leak...

Some time ago in Rock Creek my buddy's new boat started leaking....he was a fanatic with his new boat & and instead of running the bilge pump every morning, he had to go back to Wahweap & put it up on the trailer.

Bottom line, from the factory, ONE of the 4 screws holding his speedo tube assy to hull had no sealant.

He has a great sense of humor and always said about that Wahweap run: 'Well, we needed more beer anyway'

Filled the hull and found the leak. About a six inch stretch on the passenger side keel right where the most wear and tear is, beaching the boat etc. a little concerning it’s the hull, but glad I found it, and all the symptoms and the reason it’s in that spot do make sense so that’s good. I don’t think it’s a crazy fix?

not good, but a good find.

That is the chine, or edge where the floor of the boat meets the side. That is usually thick where the joint is. is the leak coming from the weld? Seems like if it is, that should be covered by the warranty. I would be surprised if you would wear through just by beaching. Unless you hit something sharp and hard, and would suspect you would see that damage?

Yeah the leak is right at that joint. Would seem to me to be a weld? It didn’t leak until we started doing south trips again through those Maytag straights!!! Ha

We’ve never hit anything. Just beat up in the waves and beaching. We aren’t as particular (careful) in our beaching so I’d guess there were times when it was more rock than sand/gravel we beached on.

Glad you found it.

Beating a dead horse, but if you have a warranty, this sure seems like a time to use it.

Even if you can do the work yourself you should check to see what that would do to your warranty. I’d bet that a non-authorized repair would put future warranty claims in question.

Yes, contacted our crestliner dealer today, they will send the info in and see if we can utilize the warranty.
