New vendor idea. (Only kind of kidding)

Not really kidding, I get that. Let’s hope they fix the consumption problem soon and we start storing more of the water we get.

If we don’t get this solved I wonder if once all the improved ramps were high and dry if they would still allow recreational use of the lake; if they would ever close it? If allowed I would be down to get on the lake by self launching by any safe means possible.

I’ve looked at old military vehicles and the six wheel drive diesel powered trucks sell pretty cheaply. From what I saw for around $5,000 you can get a low mileage 40 year old surplus beast that you can drive on the highway. That’s a possible back up plan as a stash vehicle in Page, gonna try and get on what would be left of the lake by any means possible. Not as a commercial enterprise but as a personal launch vehicle. In that situation it would be amazing to be out there on what’s left of the lake, you’d be almost all alone.

I have several Avon rafts up to 18' in length and two are registered for motors. As long as I can get close to the waters edge, am launching and going boating. Rafts are the perfect camping machines for multi day trips. Let's hope it never gets to that point. House boating is a lot less work for the same amount of fun.

We have a 24’ Searay. 6000 ish lbs. I don’t favor my chances of launching it over sand without some kind of heavy equipment. But like you, I’ll go to an aluminum skiff I can carry, pack the outboard to the water by hand, shoot, even a canoe, whatever it takes, to keep accessing the lake.

your friend probably had too many
salty dog highballs…in many ways😂
As Maxwell Smart would say: 'Right again, Chief'.....oh, say hi to said salty friend when you see him in the mirror...... 😜 😜

Back to your regularly scheduled thread....

I was thinking the Halls ramp and a crane truck could be used to launch small to cruiser size, but now the ramp is for Aramark's boat rentals and fuel.
It wouldn't take much of a crane to lift almost all boats. A vertical cliff and you would have a system that would work regardless of water level. The issue would be , if you launched off a hundred foot vertical cliff , and the crane broke down , you would be in trouble. You would also have an issue.People couldn't ride the boat Down To the water.

For years I watched my buddy use a crane for launch & retrieve at Dana Point Harbor for his boat.....didn't wanna put the painted trailer in salt water....worked great, only problem was the occasional wait....he didn't mind....
