Where are there plenty of boats available? Not anywhere I look.

Havalina I feel for you. Tough spot. I’m sure if you tried to “go new” the wait wouldn’t be much if any shorter than waiting for engines to arrive from somewhere. And I know most boat manufacturers are increasing prices by double digit % each year. I couldn’t justify the cost of my boat if I were buying new today.

I hope it works out positively for you. Patience is a virtue I have a tough time with.

Sorry you are having so many issues, it is crazy with all the supply chain issues....I can't help but think there is going to be a lot of boats and RV's on the market in a few years with super low hours!!!

We had a friend looking to put a new motor on his boat. He was told that if he ordered one in August, the delivery wait time was 13-15 months. Priority is being given to deliveries for boat manufactures, so they have engines for the new boats.

We are re-powering our houseboat and I was told the same thing. Since we were looking for two 60HP Mercury motors, it was a significant challenge. I lucked out and found two 2022s in Michigan.

This is a new boat just a 2020. Thunderjet is sending their boats to the dealerships without engines at the moment. There is one other pilothouse with a head and digital engines in Oregon. I am just amazed at Yamaha not being on top of their inventory. I agree with Dorado and if this does fall through I will be hawking the Seattle Craigslist for boats.

Yamaha actually gave the bank the serial numbers for the engines and I just signed for it. So, if we get enough water that I can get on the lake next fall it will be out there. I am keeping it at Oak Harbor over the winter and going for local black mouths until the summer. Hopefully, this supply chain mess will clear up.

I was told by the dealer that for them Lund, Thunder jet, C dory, and Hewes were accepting orders for delivery in Nov. 2023. Then Mercury, Yamaha, and Honda are not accepting any orders for repowers over 150 hp until futher notice and that they are currently over a year behind on delivery. I am really glad that I am not in commission sales. If you are ordering a boat, you may not want to sell the one you until you are in possession of your new one.

I just repowered my Targa 19. (This is my second repower...different boats.)

Did a LOT of research; serious due diligence. Just bought a complete rebuilt engine from a guy who does this for a living. One of the niftiest guys I have ever dealt with in business. Two weeks out, the motor is already mounted and purrs like a kitten. Now its off to the upholstery shop.

It took 7 months to deliver a brand new 25HP Merc tiller for my grandson's rebuild. I had to pull strings to get that deal!

I found a 2012 ETEC 175 with 876 hours but I would have to drive 8 hrs to get it and he wants $7,000. I don't even know what a good deal is anymore. I hope @Havalina got his motors sorted out.

If you can wait I would. I ordered boat in April it was suppose to be here this month notified me won't be until April so that will be a year if it comes in April. Reason shortage on engines and wiring harnesses. The price on a merc 200 this is 2021 price on my invoice is 20,600 I'm locked in 21 price for boat so who knows how much they've went now? I think most people selling are aware of so prices reflect it.
Havalina just sent me a email week ago sounds pretty good for him but I'll let him respond .

New Yammie 175 list is 17.5k If you can find one. Looks like depending on model the 175 blue book is between 8-9.5k. Just to give you perspective. If You are serious about the ETEC I would do a compression test. Stick some new plugs in and run it for a bit under load and see what they come out looking like. Not sure I would spend that much if I couldn’t do that first. just my two cents

Yes I would definitely plan to do that, I would just hate to drive that far to find out once of the cylinders isn't firing right. Problem is its the only motor I have found under $10k in the 150 - 200hp range that's within an 8 hr drive....

Dave, did you ever work on the old 4 cycle Homelites or Bearcats?
If you did, what were your impressions, and why do you think they faded so quickly?
At one time (late 60's) they were on all the Del Webb houseboats on our Lake.
