Launching at Hite - North enders

Thanks for the update friend. Sorry to here the fishing sucked. Hoping with this warmer, more stable weather that things will pick up over the next 8 or 9 days. Hard to predict this time of year.
I have a 20 foot deep V boat that requires a bit more water to float than the flatter bottomed bass boats. How far were you having to back out to get your boat floated? It looks pretty tight to the brush in the picture but maybe depth perception isn't so good from that.

I think Wayne said earlier in this thread that some DWR folks would be up there today tagging walleye. Hopefully we'll get a report from them as well on here.

DWR cancelled the trip because of the temperature drop and have rescheduled for April. When fish get cold they don't bite well.

I have found over the year's, that you just have to go and check it out for yourself, what is to low for one guy, is not to low for another, even with the same type of boat. I was putting in at Farley's, past the big rock, that everybody told me I was nut's for going past, and did'nt think a thing about it. But I've allway's figured, if one guy can do it, then I can to. And I might be that guy, that does it first, and it's just like cow's, the rest follow.

Cant wait to hear from Wayne, and see what he has to say about the fishing, I think it's time to get out, and go, and see if those Crappie, and still there, and do some Striper, and Walleye allso.

It was 47 degrees this morning at Wahweap and fishing was slow. Caught one striper in Gunsight, and one in Face. Then on the way back in the afternoon the water warmed to 52 in Warm Creek and catch rate was much better. If the water temp is the 40s it is going to be very slow fishing in Lake Powell. As soon as the cold front passes and water warms to 53 and above, fishing is going to take off.

In the two pictures posted of Hite south launch, I see a mud line berm starting to be exposed out about 100 yards. (rivers edge) Even the Hite web cam is showing the berm rising out of the water. Is it going to be a waste of time trying to launch there at end of the month. Where does one get across that dike??
I'd love to launch at Hite but don't want to waste the miles and time to find myself land locked. Thoughts?? Knowledge??

I sure wish they would move the Hite web cam closer, it's a mile away from the water..............
All of the other cams are close enough to the water to see what's really happening on the lake.
Google earth doesn't help, that area has a double months hite image is July 2016 high water and the rest of the lake is from March 2016, low water.

Thanks for you thoughts.

Gregg

Lake came up almost a foot and a half from the start of March to the end last year, I’m hoping for the same. That would help.

You don't try to cross it. Stay on the same side as hite. It's 6 ft or so until your past the bushs, approximately where the canyon wall starts. Hug the wall and it jumps up into the 20's, around the next point I must have lost the channel and it's around 12 feet until the mouth of Farley. Watch out for the middle, you can see bushes sticking up out of sandbars until your approximately a mile down lake. It's doable but proceed at your own caution. I did it two weeks ago.

Lake temperature is now starting to rise with the warm afternoon yesterday. It was 47 degrees yesterday morning and 48 this morning at Wahweap Marina.

Let me get the reports from the Bass tournaments at both Bullfrog and Wahweap this weekend and I will try to update your information to give you a jump start by Tuesday. Check here on Tuesday night and I will help with your fishing success on Wednesday. More to come-

Super! That would be great to hear any tips. But honestly I have read so many posts past years and present by you and your forum friends and it just inspires me to get out there! I stare at my lures and gear everyday as it sits in front of all our activities at the house and gets me in trouble! Hehe Super Stoked! Thanks!

I also had to change to GOOGLE CHROME to access the site. My current host OPERA won't work with the WW's site either. (it did for years) I thought it was my technical disability which I have to have Goldie deal with. Sq

I also have to use wayneswords.net NOT .com
