And what difference does it make what type a boat they are in? If you are drunk, you shouldn't be driving. Be it a 10' skiff or a 75' houseboat, or anything in between. Same goes for cruising by too close to another boat, or playing obnoxious music/exhaust, causing problems with your wake, you name it. Boat type doesn't matter. Act responsibly in whatever craft you are in.

Hard to make any wake twenty feet up the bank...
I don't even know what that means. I was responding to the other posts about wake boats. And yes, one of them was yours about the problem in Coyote Gulch. Would you like to hear about the problems I have had with large wakes from cruisers? Doesn't matter the type of boat. Matters the type of person. Personal responsibility shouldn't be lost.

It means I’m agreeing with you. Your boat can’t make a wake if it’s lodged twenty feet on the bank. I’ve seen stupid people in every kind of boat as well.

Such a sad story. But I’ve been blown off the water by those wake Boat’s. Lots of them seem to think it is a game to see how close they can get to you when your sitting fishing. Other owners on our houseboat saw the boat afterwards and said Rangers were very active afterwards. A boat came by their grandchild on a kayak and was pulled right over and issued a citation for it.
I wish there would have been a ranger in the canyon we were in last weekend.... We did everything we could to make the people speeding by us multiple times a day GET IT but they obviously didn't care.

The subject of 'big wakes' deserves a new thread as it isn't really the subject of this one, so I'll start one as the subject is worthy.

From what I could see when I went by there was no rock he hit before the beach. The article states he hit a rock first but I could not see any. Chalk this one up to drunk and stupid.

I just keep wondering who let this loser drive their boat? Surely it wasn’t his, unless daddy bought it for him. I guess it doesn’t matter but can’t comprehend letting some drunk kid drive my boat
And did this girl & the others not know of his reputation? His history?
So heartbreaking and senseless.

The problem I see with many boat drivers is they don't like to slow down. If any of you have boated on the California River, people are making unsafe passes all day long. For some reason when the throttle control moves from your foot to hand, it is hard for people to pull the throttle back and wait for a safer passing lane. Now add in alcohol, being young, showing off for young girls and so on...…………...he could of just clipped a shallow part which in turn changed his direction into the shoreline. With not having an hand on the throttle, nothing would stop the boat (especially if he had a beer in one hand and the other on the wheel???

If you guys look at the boat, it is a direct drive, not a V drive. Direct drives are made for skiing - with wakes probably as small or smaller than most of the fishing boats on here.
wakeboarder put thousands of pounds of water (in bladders) in the back of direct drive ski boats to increase wake size. I have never understood why.
