Kicker motors?

They make a linkage that straps to the lower unit of each motor, but I haven't researched it. Look on utube for it. I seem to remember seeing a video there. Hope it helps, and thanks for your thread about the alternator charger. I just installed a 3 bank charger for my TM batteries.

Squirrel turned me onto the three bank on board charger and so far it has been fantastic! It is one of my favorite “new gadgets “ on the boat. I found an inexpensive volt meter and mounted it back by the three batteries and I can see how they are doing at anytime I want. So far the charger has done a great job of keeping everything charged. Let us know how everything works once you’ve had a chance to put it through the tests. I haven’t heard much from anyone about these except from squirrel so it will be good to get some more input from more people if there are any problems. I hope yours works as good for you as mine has so far, I have not had to charge any batteries at Powell since I got it!

I like to hear that, no need for a generator unless it's to run an ac unit ;)

How would it work with a Merc I/O for steering? I like the idea of having a back up seeing as I go solo a lot and have been venturing further away from the BF area, Sq
This is the linkage I was referring to, but not sure how it would effect tilting each motor. Screenshot_20200811-205426_Samsung Internet.jpg

I grew up on a 18' Larson sterndrive. My dad had a old Sears kicker, then upgraded to a Force, then a Honda (which was by far the best). Steering was easy. Basically the same set up that I have on my Ranger. Just connected it to the top of the outdrive.

Something very similar to this. Amazon.com: Outboard Kicker Motor Steering Kit: Sports & Outdoors

I found my motor and had it rigged on the boat today, only thing left is to tie it to the main engine with a quick release rod and to put it the water and get it broke in. Looking for a Powell trip in September 🤞 :)
Thanks for everyones input.

I have a 6 hp Mercury (Tohatsu), it has been pretty bullet proof. Mine is a single cylinder, and it will idle and run roughly if the carburetors get even slightly gunked up. I add Seafoam to my gas and religiously run the carburetors dry by disconnecting the fuel line at the end of every fishing trip. This prevents the gas from leaving residue in the carb's, and has worked great for me. The motor has not been to the shop (other than to fix a broken shift linkage) since 2006, and has many hundreds of hours on it. Oil change is super easy to do yourself.

Thanks, I think it would be a good habit to run the gas out at the end of every trip. Nice to hear of such reliability as well.

This is great advice, I have a generator that has a carburetor susceptible to "gunk". I bought it at a bargain because the previous owner was tired of having it "worked on" every spring. By turning off the fuel valve and running it dry, it starts easily every time. My brother works on a lot of small engines and carburetor cleaning is the by far the largest issue.

Not sure how you would tackle that issue. Perhaps an independent power steering for the Kicker.
