Kayak Fishing

Don't tell anyone but your best spot is Blue Notch Canyon. Here is some more detail on how to get there.
If you decide to do Stanton, I can give you detailed directions to get down to the North side near the water. Sq
It's a long way into Blue Notch through some rough roads and sometimes there are rock slides that can block the road. If you take the Stanton Creek Rd just past the Bullfrog Recreation Area entrance and follow one of the roads that goes NW of Stanton Creek that will put you out onto the main body of Bullfrog bay near the Haystacks. There is good fishing in that vicinity and is the best bet for access from your vehicle.
Was curious if we were to park the car at bullfrog marina and paddle somewhere to camp if i would have to pay for camping fees or just the 7 day park entrance?

Just have to pay the park entrance fees. The only camping fees are at the camp ground itself. Look at the NPS web site there are a few rules for camping. If you are a certain distance away from the restrooms you are required to have a portable toilet.

another good resource to look at is:

I believe if you camp at Stanton creek area you have to pay the daily camping fee of $6.00? Not sure of the cost. Check with the park for actual answers to this. You do have to be a certain distance from the marina's to camp. Peter

Ok thanks guys, just weighing my options here haha

You have to be a 1/4 mile from the ferry ramp on one side of bullfrog and 1/4 from the marina ramp on the other side . Cant camp at the hobie cat area . Trust me I have tried to camp as close as possible. Stanton is perfect you can camp right by your car for a small fee and the fishing is great.

I believe the cost for camping at Stanton is $12.00 per night, unless you have the “Old Farts NPS card”, then it’s $6.00 per night. It doesn’t sound like your qualified. Also, camping near the lake means you won’t be near the bathrooms. They are closer to the high water mark. Sq

Won't hurt to check out Crosby Canyon. Very cool road down to the north side of Warm Creek Bay. The road originates in Big Water.
The last mile or so doesn't play nice with lower sitting vehicles. I took my minivan down the road, which probably wasn't the greatest idea. No damage was done to the van, but it was nerve racking for sure. Had there been any significant rain, I would have been stuck for sure. Despite the elevated heart rate at each fork, I continued making decisions. I tried to always take the fork that led to higher ground rather than the wash. Well it worked for every fork except the last one. I don't know how to indicate the last one, sorry. It did get a little hairy on my way down because I knew there was as beyond the point of no return place that I had to cross. Luckily for us, the clearance of the vehicle, strategic placement of rocks, and angles of attack allowed passage down and through the last gully. We made it to the shoreline and were blown away at the amazing calm. The water was glass. The sounds of nature were filling the air. the last thing was to unload the kayaks and get to fishing. We only caught one little striper for the day, but it was sure nice to be there.
Thanks everyone for all the info on this site. I love being a part of this group.

Being a Southerner, never been to the haystacks. Are those the Henry Mountains in the distance?

Technically, they are part of that chain, I believe. I think we're looking at Mount Ellsworth in that photo - which, along with Mount Holmes, is separated from the main chain by about 5 miles (to the southeast). Of course, most of my info comes from GoogleEarth, so take it for what it's worth. :)
