Hello all, pretty new to kayak fishing and really new to fishing Lake Powell (never fished it). Curious if someone could point me in a direction with maybe good fishing/camping spots from a kayak. Headed out the end of April with a few friends. Not looking to paddle 8 miles but im thinking 4 is doable. Not looking for someones secret hole, just some general direction for a noob haha. Thanks All

Don't tell anyone but your best spot is Blue Notch Canyon. Here is some more detail on how to get there.
Thanks Wayne! I'll check into that. Only thing that worries me is that is says you might need a high clearance 4x4. Im driving a mazda cx5 with a little trailer haha so thats my only limitation.

Stanton creek
Ive thought about this one too thanks for the suggestion! was curious how close to the water you think i could drive my cx5 pulling a small trailer. Are the roads pretty good down through the campground area?

The road to Stanton is primitive as Ejespady35 stated above. However, as long as it hasn’t been rain on (very unlikely) and rutted out, I think almost any car could make it going slowly and having a spotter jump out to direct you around a bad spot if needed. May not even need that, just saying, take your time, take care and it will be possible.
You can easily reach the “Haystacks” from there for stripers, fish lots of rubble and rocks for SMB on either side of Bullfrog Bay, gravel flats for nesting SMB and LMB (consider returning the LMB), and never have to risk crossing the main channel boat traffic.

It's a long way into Blue Notch through some rough roads and sometimes there are rock slides that can block the road. If you take the Stanton Creek Rd just past the Bullfrog Recreation Area entrance and follow one of the roads that goes NW of Stanton Creek that will put you out onto the main body of Bullfrog bay near the Haystacks. There is good fishing in that vicinity and is the best bet for access from your vehicle.

Cool cool, i dont see many ruts when inspecting the road on google maps but i know the conditions have probably changed a ton since the picture haha i think i'll take my chances and use a spotter. Thanks for the advice its much appreciated.

Striper, yeah thats one thing i wish i would have gotten was a car with more ground clearance so i really didnt want to take a chance on that road. I will try that road to the northwest and hope for the best. I appreciate the info

You an get on Google Earth and zoom in and see the dirt roads.. but not how rough
Yeah i get that. im open for other spots too like lone rock that seems like it may be more down my alley haha i was just reaching out so i didnt get in over my head with no way to turn around.

Camping at the lone rock in wahweap is certainly doable but it's wise to watch where the motor homes go in and out. Some of the roads in have soft sand you could get stuck in. The last time I stayed there people were more than happy to pull out stuck vehicles although I don't know what if anything that they might have charged. There's good fishing thru out wahweap bay.

I like the North shore of Stanton, it’s more protective from the storms that usually come in from the West. I tried to load a Google Earth picture but it's too large. Sq

Ok thanks for sharing! Looks like I'll have some googling to do haha it's best to ask the source so that's why I came to you guys!

If you decide to do Stanton, I can give you detailed directions to get down to the North side near the water. Sq
