Oh man, how did this thread evolve into old people talk? It’s easy to remember when they closed the dam — high school graduation. Glad I have memories, sort of, and faded photos of our boats bobbing under Rainbow Bridge.
But hey, I played golf Wednesday and shot my age, on the 13th hole.
My first trip we just pulled into the dam parking lot and slept undisturbed on the fold down seats of the Mark Twain of our fleet admiral, who still invites me onboard a couple of times year. There were no crowds in the far reaches of the canyons where we anchored in the 80’s.

We had a share on that boat when it was first launched, good to see it still going.
Thanks for reaching out, you are the first person I've come in contact with from that original owners group. It's been in the hands single owners since about 2010 or so and is still going strong, she's been good to my family, still providing lots of adventures.

what year does anyone think this was? Wasn't Canyon Tours bought out in 75? I think the Marina was done at Rainbow by 1982. If you zoom in on the chalkboard is it my imagination or does it say 77?
It looks that way. Bet one of Waterman's grandkids with exceptional computer skills can decipher....grandkids are computer geniuses.... 😋

On another note...why does it say 'Marine Store'.....and not Rainbow Bridge Marina store? Cuz it wasn't a full-fledged marina? Never noticed that in the 70s....

That's awesome, glad you guys are enjoying it.

Thought we'd beat the rush and go out this week. Left early and stopped early in Padre Canyon where we met the wind. Only found smallies so far. BUT found plenty of beach bums......er beach bags getting ready for Memorial Day weekend. Bags are waiting for next weekend in Kane Wash and In Padre Canyon. (Edited. Hope this attachment works)
