Is Aramark trying to.....

What the $1500 covers is getting it to Hanksville. Sign the boat over and give up ownership and the owners are released from blocking and every aspect of the salvage. Any parts that are re-sellable (motors, controls, lights, etc) that are sold, the owners would get a commission of what is sold.
If boat is transported just for storage and not salvage, yes, there would be more fees. But again, I'm not interested into getting into the houseboat launch and retrieval. It is a 3rd party company that does the hauling and his quote to haul was $1500 from Bullfrog to Hanksville.

If you are will to assume all of the legal issues related to properly handling and disposing of the vessel, including black water tank, fuel tanks and all other hazardous materials, (and provide and agree to an executable contract saying as such) the $1500 to transport the vessel is a great deal for someone wanting to get out from under a vessel that is no longer viable. Good luck in your endeavor!

My property used to be a restaurant and RV park and there is a commercial septic system that that will handle any black water that needs to be gotten disposed of and a solid waste pump to do the job. But of course, the black water should be pumped out before it leaves the lake. That would be the courteous thing to do. :) Since I also have farm land and irrigation to be dealt with every year, the gasoline will be used to burn/clean the canal which is legal where I live. I have an oil container where I do recycle the oils that are associated with boats & motors. So, yes, everything would be disposed of properly, even down to the steel pontoons being destroyed and going to recycling venues.
Last thing I want to do is trash my property with not disposing of things properly. I have done several mobile homes and not a nail or screw was left behind.

Sounds like you have all the bases covered!! We have a 36 ft twin engine cruiser/HB with it's own trailer, currently @ Halls (dry storage). It is difficult (and more $$) to schedule launch/retrieve since Aramark does not keep a tractor there. Not to mention paying for "full" marina services - then NOT being able to pump out or fuel up!! Hauling 250 gals from 300 miles away is a task!! We may need a place to winter it, and do maintenance when necessary. What would it take to 1. pull and launch from your place 2. estimate for the initial pull from Halls dry storage, and 3 what would you charge for storage - say - 6 months/yr. Our only cost/easy use option is move to BF - which I hate due to longer travel and ALWAYS too crowded!! Thx

Good Morning Scubatim, Feel free to give me a call or text and I can answer all your questions. (970) 424-4552 I have several boats here this winter in need of repairs and maintenance. Sorry, but I am not expecting to do launch and retrievals as there are too many hoops to jump thru to do L & R.

Why were you not able to pump out at Hall's this year? I remember Bullfrog having a lot of issues but not Hall's and infact hardly anyone used it since the fuel dock was closed.

1500 for everything sounds like great deal. I know at least one person in Hall's dry storage looking to get rid of his houseboat, I'll refer him to this post.

I don't know what is going on with the pump out at Halls. Sadly, I haven't made it to the lake at all this year. :( Hope someone can chime in on this and give more details

That would be great about your friend. Keep in mind that they would have to get it to Bullfrog for the retrieval at that rate. I guess it could be one last "Kiss Goodbye" if they are desperate to get out from under it.

We pumped out at Halls Crossing along side another Cabin Cruiser and two houseboats(one was on the outer dock when we arrived, and the other came in when the first pulled out). The new pumps seemed to work pretty well, it was my first time pumping out my tank(new to me boat) so I can't say if it was quicker/slower than previous, but everything functioned as expected.

I think Dave said he hasn't been able to get on the lake this year, thus, slow down and enjoy a little. He seems to be genuine about his business, thus he seems like a good guy.. If I hear bad stuff, I will think otherwise. No inuendo's or sarcasm.

My complaint is not the cost. It costs what it costs, too much, but they are trying to run a business without access to a power grid in the middle of the desert (north lake marinas). My complaint is SERVICE and QUALITY OF FACILITIES. If we were paying premium fees for a premium service, then it is what it is. We are paying premium fees for horrible service, degraded facilities, apathetic customer service reps, slips that are filthy, no help when you need parts or a tow, mussel complications. I am totally willing to pay for a good experience. But right now the cost to enjoyment ratio is way out of whack. When you have a problem, there's no help.

People have too many demands on their time. If you cannot get service or break down assistance on your vacation and it ends up being full of stress, it's not worth all the effort it takes to get to Lake Powell. I think I will be selling out in 2018.

Ya know Kevin, I spent a night in a slip this past year in Bullfrog Marina and I know exactly what you are saying. They were doing repairs to the bathrooms on the docks and people had to use the up-graded port-a-potties, which, by the way were nicer inside than the normal bathrooms. lol

Thing was that I noticed how the docks looked and lack of upkeep that was there. They were repairing the bathrooms, sure, but made me wonder if it was out of preventative maintenance or necessity. And dare I mention the labyrinth of dock spiders webs I had to go thru to get anywhere on the docks (yes, I have heard it is a crime to kill a spider on the lake, lol)

When I worked at the Halls side rental fleet, we took care of the docks. We walked the docks looking for trash and debris. We used a floor scrubber to clean around the heavy traffic areas. etc. A lot of the issue may be the mentality of the employees also.

I hear from a lot of people that customer service just doesn't exist at Halls, Bullfrog or Ticaboo. Many people have been happy when the meet and deal with me but I can't offer as many services as they can at the lake.....yet.

I started work at Stateline rental dock in 1995 and the same complaints that I hear now were being voiced then. Although there will be employees who would go above and beyond, generally I think a mentality of just getting by prevails at Aramark. When a customer had a problem and I wanted to "fix" it my manager would always say "They are already mad, don't worry about it". What a pathetic attitude but probably one that had come from the top. One of the best jobs in terms of excitement and challenges but one of the worst in terms of seeing such a great opportunity wasted. They just seemed not to get it and they still don't. The NPS is allowing that btw. Just my two cents.
