Glad you found em Kevin. We had some luck in the back of iceberg. But it wasn’t epic. I was having fun watching stripers and large mouth blow up spooks on top water. Not very fast but super cool. Always good to see people having success! Good job!Spent a week at my favorite lake, and it reminded me of why. I started out looking for boils for a few days, and then got to looking for them on structure. Hadn't found them yet, when my brother in law Steve and I were hunting them, and I was coming out of Hall's, and a gust caught my hat. I turned around and went back, and thought my hat had sank. But I found it and picked it out of the water, shook it off and stuck it back on. When I turned around and looked at the fish finder, it was loaded with Striper in 50 ft of water. I got excited, like I had just seen a boil. 54 fat fighting Stripers later we headed back to the house boat. My BIL is 75, and said that was the most fish he had ever caught in a day
. We caught them all on Salt n pepper assassins.
My company went home, and I went back every morning and repeated the same process every day. They are as strong as I can remember them being for 3 to 4 lb fish. I used the same jig head for the 160 to 170 fish I caught, and went through 2 paks of assassins.
I met some new friends this trip, Mark , whom I fished around and gave assassins to. And Josh Gilson. I gave Josh Striper fillets, and his wife fried 5 quarts of fillets, and it was a WW's recipe with hot sauce. They were some of the best fish I have ever eaten. Thanks Josh and wife for the fish and treats
I all so saw Chovyboy Steve, and his friend Steve while we were there, and they talked a good while. All ways good to see you Chovy.
All ready looking forward to going back. Those strong fish will be calling soon![]()

Those were some good Striper with that recipe. The Striper fishing was great. And Josh and his gang were great neighbors. Looking forward to annother trip for sure. Hope we meet some time.Kevin --- just missed you -- I got there Friday, but did not read your report until today --- we were right next to Josh --- he cooked up some of your fish and shared -- the hot sauce stripper was great --
fishing for small mouth was tough -- hit west of halls Saturday morning -- only a few --- headed down to Annies and Iceburg on Sunday-- did better, but not great -- I should have skipped the smallies and found your stripper spot --- there is always next time
It was great seeing you too (one of the two Steve's). Im heading back on the 16-20 of Sept. Keep those lines tight!Spent a week at my favorite lake, and it reminded me of why. That is a sweet lake Powell boat you have Steve, those Stripers were literally just the other side of where we were talking. You had a great partner with you, I know hes a Powell lover for lifeIt was great seeing you too (one of the two Steve's). Im heading back on the 16-20 of Sept. Keep those lines tight!
If you go back thru the post response #16 he shows the color he's using, and what looks to be a 1/4 or 3/8oz jighead. You have great photos of your trip My question is what size jig head and color were you using Thanks Dennis from Junction'
Tackle Warehouse has quite a few similar to the one shown in that picture.I like chartreuse or yellow chartreuse in 3/8 oz, and I wish I could find the same jig.
Scheels has themI like chartreuse or yellow chartreuse in 3/8 oz, and I wish I could find the same jig. There called big eye and holographic I think Dennis. If any one on here ever run across any of them please post where. But a regular lead head probably as good![]()
I like there VMC moon eye heads, I'll have to get a few of those to try. I caught all the Stripers on this post on the same jig head, you don't lose many if you retie often.Tackle Warehouse has quite a few similar to the one shown in that picture.
The Sheels in Sandy?Scheels has them

Hi JackHey Kevin , great fishing report. I sure do love those Walleye Assassins also. They Work great in boils !!! I need to try what you said let them go to the bottom if marking fish. I usually drop a spoon when I see them piled up at those depths. But will try that next time I get there again.
