Sounds unlikely; the 'WALL' money not available 'yet', no good replacement for ObamaCare 'yet'.

It's too much to bite off in the first 100 days, the public expects instant gratification on campaign promises. It sounds like the White House understands they are just not ready to fight for these issues yet.

Adam- The problem is you are using "LOGIC" to try and explain how the govt operates. Oil and Water.....the govt has to protect you from yourself.

The last shutdown should be a good pattern to follow. If you were on the lake when the shutdown occurred you were able to stay and have the whole lake to yourself. If you were a day late then you could not enter.

My advice is to launch on Friday and you will find all well.

The Fourth Amendment (Amendment IV) to the United States Constitution prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures. It requires governmental searches and seizures to be conducted only upon issuance of a warrant, judicially sanctioned by probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, describing the place to be searched and the persons or things to be seized. It is part of the Bill of Rights. It is not legal for any government agency to seize or prevent you from access to your personal property with out probable cause. ??? If you are interested, You should get a Letter of Interpretation from your local Judge or Attorney Generals office explaining your activities and need to access your personal property. The State of Utah stepped in to cover the cost of security and NPS rangers last time to reopen the parks in the interest of local economies.
They stand ready AGAIN.

The last one may have been technically 16 days , but it was much shorter for Utah 4 or 5 days something like that ..... they (utah) did some emergency action to open the Parks and operate them on the state dime .

Believe me I remember it very clearly........ late october , It literally ruined a powell trip for me , went to beef basin instead which was still cool , but not Powell .

and here is a real kick to the stomach , the next year I was talking with a quagga inspection cop at BF and I mentioned the shutdown ruining my vacation........ he said they were allowing boats in the entire time (just no services)

but as mentioned before , that was back with the mandatory quagga inspection so that made it a little different than it will be this time . just get there the day before and you will be good to go ..... and get far away from the marinas and you will probably have the whole lake to just a few of you lucky peeps.
 
GoldCup was already there on the houseboat in the slips and didn't have a whole lot of trouble.
He will have to chime in as to what happened because it's been a few years ago and I can't remember details

I wasn't there for the shut down, but some friends were, pre-fishing the Bullfrog Open. They got sent packing, and yes, there were more Feds guarding points of entry than they would have used for business as usual. I believe the shut down lasted 10 days on parks in Utah, till the governor re-opened them. We got there the day after Powell re-opened and loaded the boat, best trip ever.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but if that was really the case, that is one of the most absurd things I have heard. Doing that would likely take as much or more staff as keeping the park open.

I've spent a fair amount of time studying the Constitution in the past. And I know you are right on this. That being said, how are they able to climb all through my boat, looking into compartments to do ANS inspections? Or go through my coolers to check my catch?
 
The last shutdown was a really big mistake. But if you were on the lake before the bell sounded then it was epic. The entry road to the park was signed and barricaded and the park was closed to the public but some park employees had access and some boat owners did to. The normal happy gate attendants were replaced with national park rangers with side arms, but the armed rangers were very friendly and understanding and visibly embarrassed of the entire fiasco. Access to private houseboats, as I understood it, was limited to only single owner boats slipped at the marina with a monthly lease contract with the park service and Aramark. As I recall, time share partners or multi owner boats did not qualify for park access, but single owner houseboats with the owner able to produce an active Aramark slip card were permitted 24/7 access to work on their boat. During this period the docks were completely dead but there were people visibly working on and sleeping on their slipped houseboats. Any anchored boats were not forced to leave. The big winner ended up being Utah and their governor who fronted the cash to reopen the Utah 5, which included Powell. There was another surprise winner too.

Alhough Trump is known to play hardball, he needs a base hit really bad right now, and a shutdown would be another strike out for him. Cruz and Lee lost the last hand when they bluffed and got called so they are out, and all others are smart enough to work it out. If you have a trip planned for Powell tomorrow I would worry more about where you are going to buy dry ice than a lock out. But I have been wrong before.

Like most of the North Lake it was pretty muddy(about 1ft visibility). None of the boats were fishing in Farley, I assume they were running to White or GHB. Due to mechanical difficulties we shore fished Saturday afternoon, caught 5 smallish crappie. Fished a good part of Sunday and caught 2 skinny stripers, 2 smallish crappie, and a little walleye. Can't really say what White looks like, but probably better than Farley.

PS inflows have increased significantly this week so all bets are off for the Northern Lake.
