Maps can be helpfull but they were made when the lake was @ full pool. You need the map to help you tell you where you are and where the canyons are. Because this lake has rocks and stuff sticking up I wouldn't use the downriggers at all unless you are dead center in the middle of the lake. you can get your lures down deep by using slip weghts. Here is what I would do. I would start out in the back of Bullfrog bay. Go back untill the water is about 15ft deep. turn around and start trolling back toward the ramp. Put out one shallow and one medium deep diver when the water reaches 25 ft put on a really deep diver troll around for a couple of hours.
Then head to the back of Lake Canyon (6 miles south) go to the vary back untill the water is too shallow for your boat. We went there 2 times in Oct of last year. found a huge school of bass and stripers caught fish all day. We used whooper ploopers and bill lewis rattle traps in color ICE BLUE SHAD. use spoons and Acme hyper snap jigs for the stripers. It sounds that you may have some other boaters to go with you to Marker 2 &4 that would be great. I always put my fish on ice in a large cooler. The wind: you never know when the wind will come up most weather men can't tell you what the weather was yesterday let alone what it will be next week. Have fun and be safe!! Bullfrog is the closest marina if you’re going north. I’m not sure what the comments about “marker 2” and “marker 4” are referring to (maybe the canyons up north)? MM 2 and 4 are clear on the other side of the lake.

To avoid any confusion. All reports have been referring to these two canyons above the horn.

Yes Sir! I need to fix a downrigger mount early morning on the 12th and then I will be heading up and boat camping in Red canyon. I am too cheap, to make that trip three days in a row.

Here's another map showing where the fishing reports have been coming from. It took an hour to get to the horn from Bullfrog traveling approximately 32 mph. I was there this past weekend and fished 2 Mile and the horn. I didn't have any success at two mile, but the horn produced healthy stripers from the 2-5lb range and their bellies were full of shad. We trolled Berkeley flicker shad 7 deep dive at 3.5 -4 mph.

Do you have any maps of leaving bullfrog to avoid the hazards between Halls and bullfrog going into the channel?

One thought about stripers lures. What worked today may not catch fish tomorrow. I've gone to Lake Powell and caught all the stripers on a 1/2 oz jig with a white twister tail. the next day they wouldn't touch it. sometimes they want a fast lure, then they want it slow. sometimes they will jump all over a white jig, then the next day they want green or purple. When you go to Lake Powell take a variety of lures and colors. I've had three day trips when I couldn't find them untill the last day. be flexible!!! Dennis J from junction

You can download this navionics mobile app onto your phone for an annual fee and it will probably have a map for every lake that you fish in addition to Powell. It has alot of features like adjustable lake level, color coding different depths etc. and you can use it even with out a cell signal as it uses the GPS in the phone.

Yep that new maverick in Green River has had great prices the last few times ive been there and nice truck lanes to pull in and fuel my truck and boat.

Helper is also cheap if you’re going that way. Be sure to stay right as you’re coming into the main channel coming as you come out of Bullfrog bay!

December the 13th this year falls on a Friday. As long as you'r not a Templar knight it shouldn't bother you so best wishes for great weather and good fishing! It's a crap shoot that time of year as far as weather goes, could be perfect could be very foul. Either way, Powell is always beautiful!
