Anyone happen to have a good recommendation for the mount / replica?
The very best I’ve seen is “Northern Anglers Taxidermy”. Rich has been on my short list of people to get ahold of if ever I needed a replica done. I actually did contact him about a lake trout replica and he was very upfront with me, as a form didn’t exist for it and for him to sculpt a form, and the time it would take would be a ridiculous amount of money. I really appreciated the honesty.

He has done some mounts for buddies of mine and they look flawless. Look around his website. Or Facebook page at the same name.

Of course there are cheaper options…

Beautiful work! I sent them a message today. Appreciate the recommendation!

I truly believe about 2 years ago I was connected to a fish like that.
30 lb braided line connected to my homemade bottom bouncers on 15 lb flouro.
Bottom bouncing in about 15’ water in main channel near restroom end of GHB.
Had to swing wide around some exposed boulders momentarily swung over some 80-90’ deep water when something grabbed me.
I had it on for maybe 60 seconds as it kept pulling and pulling for deep water until 15lb line snapped a few inches in front of blade, I have no doubt the line had been weakened by Mussel shells.
If not a very large Striper, only thing else in the lake would be a very large Channel to pull like that.
That fright mare is only second to a VERY large buck I followed in Panquitch muzzy season and never pulled trigger because could not get clear view of vitals.
I’m sure majority of you have similar fright mares!

I broke 2 other large ones off the last couple years in similar fashion around boulders. I don't think they were this big, but still definitely in the huge for Powell category. 1 in the mouth of Rock Creek and another at the mouth of Cathedral Canyon. Adrenaline followed by instant heartbreak! I was super happy that I had recently upgraded to carbon fiber drag washers in this particular reel. It was 15-20 minutes of the constant don't break off, don't break off ringing in my head!

About 1992 or so we were fishing in one of the side canyons near the back of Last Chance. We came upon a fish about the same size as this one that was floating on the surface. It was not long dead as the gills were still bright red and the skin had not started to bleach out. We brought it in the boat. We had no measuring tape of scales but a guy 5'9" held it up the lower lip and when he got it to his chin there was still 3 or 4" of the tail on the floor. We took several pictures but I cannot find them so you're just gonna have to believe me. I did not know Wayne at that time or I'd have gotten the fish to him for his inspection. Chuck

That's awesome!!! Would love to see those pics if you ever locate them.

Never knew dachshunds were bred as fish retrievers. New AKC designation?
Not much for webbed feet, must use their tails for propulsion.
Trolling plate or dive platform?
Mine swims for hours continuously without rest, so long as there are fish or ducks to chase. He'll sit in the swim step and wait for jumpers. When you get on a boil in the summer time you can't keep him in the boat. Just have to land fish around him. He's only gotten hooked once so far and definitely did not learn his lesson. He even junped in on the big guy as it came to the boat! He's just standing on the foil I have on the motor on this one.

My lab wasn't much for fish. Birds and waterskis.
Well, dead fish he was fond of.
This is the best type of fishing dog! My Drathaars and Munsterlanders get way too excited by fishing and catching. Which is funny because they are well trained and obedient...but lose their minds when the fishing rods come out!

My old Lab would sit at heel while I flyfished and knew that when you reeled up your line it was ok to move. Never showed any interest in fish, which was great.
