My friend Mike and I used to take his Weim Newton to the San Juan. I wish I had the pic of Newton with a 1lb stiper in his mouth- that would be my chioce for this thread. No amount of obedience training or behavior modifications could keep Newton from going berserk every single time a fish was caught! Funny stuff. I always thought the "three" of us fishing would've made for an entertaining fishing show.

I know that feeling. All the things that were bred into Weims to make them good upland hunting dogs makes them a real challenge to take fishing. MOOSE, and his predecessor Havoc, would go berserk anytime they were in the boat fishing with you. As soon as they would hear the drag, they would go nuts. Which is a whole different challenge with a 90 pound bag of muscle.

Here is Abby, in about 2010, "fishing" off the back of the boat on a Wyoming trip. The carp were taunting her.

Ryan , how hard would it be to surf out of a slot canyon? I've had a dream for 20 years to make a video of a surfer right next to a wall surfing. I've never had a wake boat but when I trimmed up pretty hard and stayed pretty close to the wall the wave built big and would make an unbelievable video. Safe... probably not.

With my boat it wouldn’t be that hard. And with a decent surfer, probably wouldn’t be unsafe.

With a sterndrive or outboard it would be a lot more difficult. Even with the new front drive dual props from Volvo you lose the surf wave as soon as you turn the steering wheel. With a regular prop you would have the prop to worry about.

We don’t surf in the canyons. With the shear walls, throwing any wake takes forever to dissipate. Surfing would wreck the water for an hour.

But it would make a cool video.

cascade and twilight are two great ones that come to mind.Someone surfing with both walls visible behind him. WOW. One type of board does not have a skeg. Put two axles and 4 small wheels and have someone board out of the water onto a slickrock incline and back into the water would be another automatic viral. NPS would frown on that if they knew. I get what you're saying about it not being a normal surfing or wake board scenario but it's not supposed to be normal.

I thought I would share some of the priceless memories our family has enjoyed on Lake Powell. These were all taken with our old Kodak Instamatic on film but, all in all, they turned out prize worthy.

My wife making it look easy in Rock Creek.:sneaky:(y)

Not 2017 but it is Lake Powell.. This is me from a few years ago. I’m still pretty much the same today except I have put on a few pounds. This was in Padre Bay taken with a selfy stick.

This is my lifelong friend Harold who is now transitioning and no, that doesn’t mean transitioning to slalom.

It’s not all water sports on our vacations. Sometimes I like to get away from it all and just relax while fishing for Stripers. This was in Last Chance again taken with an ugly stick.

My cousins Frick & Frack 1st time fishing for a bigmouth. At least bigger than theirs. They used to work in the Kennedy White House way back when.

This is our whole family. All except the kid on the front. I accidentally hit him wizzing out of a canyon.

Woo Hoo!! Lake Powell 2017!!

PS. Not really priceless because that kid’s family has actually decided on a price! :ROFLMAO:

OK everybody, I just dug out that old camera and it was NOT a Kodak Instamatic at all.
It was actually a "Pocket Etch A Sketch" which was the cat's meow back in the day. The image quality was highly variable depending on whether a rum front was moving through.
